Linking up with Ginny and Frontier Dreams and Decor to Adore.

Tracey from the blog Clover is hosting a baby shower for Ginny this week at Yarn Along. I’m not skilled enough to knit up anything too fantastic for a baby gift, but I did have this dear, little dress tucked away and added a few things more for mama than for baby to round it out into a gift.
And I did put a couple yarny things into my gift. A bright dishcloth. I always love having a brand-new one to add a bright bit of color to my kitchen. I also tucked in a couple of pom-pom bookmarks, because POM-POMS! Thanks to inspiration from my daughter.
I added a pretty pen and simple notepad. Two other small favorites of mine. And then I tucked in a pale pink mini flexi. Baby won’t be able to use if for a while, but perhaps one of her sisters can. 🙂
I started using one of my heart-shaped dishcloths this week and I really, really like it. I wasn’t sure what it would be like to have a HEART shape versus a SQUARE shape, but it is really handy! The curved corners or top of the heart just seem to work well to reach into corners or to wipe out inside a mug, cup or container. SO, lovin’ it!
KID PICK!
Last week I totally forgot to feature a kid pick until my post was all finished and posted, so there you have it.
I didn’t take time or have time to go update. Hopefully, that didn’t totally ruin anyone’s week! Ha!
This week I pulled The Magic Merry-Go-Round off the shelf. My Grandma had this book when I was growing up and I loved it.
It is written by the same author as Coco’s Candy Shop over in this post and the Mini and Maxi stories in this post!
Here’s what my reading pile has been recently.
I keep crushing on these cupcakes. They look SO FUN!
A friend told me she had read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and loved it so much that when she finished it, she promptly started reading it again.
That kind of recommendation had me adding it on my want-to-read list. Besides the title catches attention all in itself!
I checked it out of our library over the weekend.
It’s written in a fascinating way. The whole thing is written as a series of letters. The main character, Juliet, writes a lot of them, but the other characters write replies and there are a few sent amongst the other characters, as well. It is written in the era right after World War II. Many of the characters suffered through the German invasion and are sharing their stories with Juliet, who is a journalist and author.
The characters come to life in the pages and in their letters. It keeps you turning pages to hear their history and what they’ve been through, besides also following the present-day happenings of the story as well.
It made me think of Dear Mr. Knightley because that book is written as a series of letters, too.
Then, THIS book!
I’m just so excited about it! I’m part of the launch team for this book and received my copy of it on Monday. Yay to getting to read it early! BUT, I did hear that though it doesn’t release until May 1st, Amazon already is shipping it.
I really, really loved Love the Home You Have by Melissa Micheals as well. I hosted a giveaway for that book last year. The giveaway is long closed and over, but you can still read my post over here about the book if you’d like!
And I thoroughly enjoyed her other book, The Inspired Room. Find it in this Yarn Along post!
Add all that book love together and it sums up to ME…wanting to read this newest book of hers + my total happy face to get to be part of the launch team and tell people about her new book!
And in the spirit of home, I read a couple more chapters from The Life-Giving Home. So many things I relate to in it and it’s just another book I like so much.
Procrastination.
That’s what I’d been practicing!
But, hey, I picked up my project and persevered through a couple more rounds and I THINK it even came out correctly!
Now I’m back to the same stitch pattern for the rounds like I was following at the beginning of the pattern, so it’s easier again. Knit one, pearl two, knit two…………..
What project or book is making you happy this week?

You are so welcome! Happy heart knitting! 🙂 I’d love to see a picture of yours.
What a fun post! It’s fun to see someone’s book stack from time to time. I have never read The Guernsey Literary Society and it’s been on my list for a few years. I just finished My Brilliant Friend and need to return it to the library – maybe I’ll pick up Guernsey this time.
Can’t wait to see what you have to say about Melissa’s book too.
hank you so much for joining Thoughts of Home on Thursday. We are thrilled to have you. 🙂
Thank-you!
I’m not too far in, but I am definitely already enjoying Melissa Micheals’ “Make Room For What You Love.” Inspiring and encouraging words are my favorite, whether it’s words about creating home or organizing or teaching children or about marriage or whatever the subject is. 🙂
