I mentioned last week I had the idea to make several solid dishcloths. My stack is started. I finished the yellow and moved onto a coral-ly pink, completed it ~yay!~ and pulled out a golden yellow. I had an orange-striped shirt on one day and was working with the golden yellow yarn. My daughter told me I looked Kansas-y. The yarn color reminded her of a sunflower and it went well with the orange. I liked her take on the colors.Β
I’ve been reading The Best Yes by Lysa Teurkerst and loving it. I also realized that I like to talk about things I like and love and mean something to me, so if I started a book I didn’t like, it probably wouldn’t even get featured. I’d just ignore it, because I wasn’t excited about it and it wouldn’t be fun to share.
I’m also re-reading Rainbow Valley. It’s been a long time since I trysted with Anne’s children. Opening the cover was like re-uniting with old friends. Oh, to take my blanket and book for an afternoon in Rainbow Valley. π
My children’s books I’m crushing on this week…
The Mini and Maxi BooksΒ
I didn’t read these when I was a child. My husband grew up with them. They had them on their bookshelves as kids and my mother-in-law often read them to our kiddos as they grew. She gifted us with a set one year for Christmas and I’m happy, happy to have them!

Knitting felted baby booties … They are fun and cute!
They sound very cute!
I love, love Rainbow Valley, although Anne’s House of Dreams is probably my favorite. I need to knit up some new dishcloths too, but I want to get through my stash first, which is full of lovely yarn not suitable for hard-working dishcloths. I’m using the same pattern though- I think this is going to be a pillow cover.
I love the simplicity of the pattern, because it doesn’t require a lot of mental effort.
It’s been a long time since I read the Anne books. I want to get Anne of Ingleside and re-read it, too.
I always loved the antics of Davey in Anne of Avonlea.
I love the dishcloth colours, so pretty! Can’t believe there are seven Anne books! I’m afraid I only read the first one and it was only a few years ago – I seemed to miss a lot of classics as a kid π
Thank-you! Oh, don’t miss the Anne books! They’re so great!! π I also highly, highly recommend Jane of Lantern Hill and The Blue Castle, also by L.M. Montgomery.
I wrote a post a couple of years ago about The Blue Castle…. https://adelightfulglow.com/2012/04/lessons-from-the-blue-castle/
