Hello! And good morning and Happy Day and greetings and salutations!
Ten on Tuesday, here.
Ten Favorite Foods Your Mother Used To Make. That’s our prompt. Linking up over with Carole.
Food. It’s always a fun category!
It’s necessary. It’s a blessing. Food is a memory maker! I have many foods with memories associated or certain foods that always bring to mind certain times or events.
Here’s some of my favorites that my Mother fixed when I was growing up!
2. Cinnamon Bread. Nothing quite like the smell of yeasty loaves of bread sliding from the oven!
3. Meatloaf and Mac and Cheese.
4. This Hamburger Macaroni Skillet Supper. I can’t remember what it was called. It had tomato juice in it and it was so yummy with shredded cheese sprinkled on top and melted.
5. Corn Pudding.
6. Chili Soup with crackers crumbled into it and cornbread with butter and slices of cheese to eat! I’m hungry for it right now as I sit here and think about it! Mother………………… 🙂 🙂
7. Sloppy Joes.
8. BBQ Chicken. Almost every summer my family would host a chicken bbq for my aunts and uncles and cousins. The smell of the bbq sauce my Mother would make, always, always transports me to a hot summer evening, surrounded by the sounds of chicken sizzling mingled with adult voices in conversation and children laughing and calling to one another. I see the tables lined up in the garage and ice cream freezers lined up on the garage approach. Food tables laden with potatoes and fruit and monkey bread and rolls and whatever else my mother and aunts and grandma had fixed for us.
9. Apple Pie. My mother made the best apple pie.
10. Party Cheeseball. I loved this when I was young! I still love it. I didn’t like corned beef cheeseball when I was young. {I do now!} My mother would make this one and I always felt like she made it just for me! 🙂

Deborah what a perfect and timely post! So many of the foods my mother made are now my comfort foods.
May you have a glorious Tuesday dear one!
Thank-you! I truly think there is something about the foods you grow up with. There are a couple foods that my husband likes that surprise me, because he is a picky eater. But they are both things he grew up eating! 🙂
Our Tuesday has been glorious. I’ve been home, caught up on some things and it is perfect spring weather!
I love the fact that many of the foods you listed here are foods that I prepare for my kids. I hope they have as many fond memories of it as you do!
I’m sure they will! Food and meals definitely create memories.
Certain foods remind me of my Grandma and how she would always pass everything and try to get us to take more and ask if we were sure we’d had enough! What a good legacy! 🙂
Apple Pie. Cheese ball. Tater-tot casserole! Yum! Yum! Yum! All the foods you mentioned sound delicious! And they make me think of my Mother too. 😉
What a coincidence! 🙂 🙂
I will happily fix any of these foods for you again any time you say you are coming!!!!
I know you will! Yay! 🙂
We always eat chili that way, or sometimes with the cornbread crumbled up instead of the crackers. Yum!
Oh, I know! It sounds so good! 🙂
