Comfort food. Food you grow up with.
There are some foods that fit in both categories.
When I was a kid, my mom fixed tater-tot casserole and my sister and I loved it. Still do.
Now, my daughter does. She didn’t used to, but she like a lot more foods as she’s getting older. This was her choice of main dish for her birthday.
Here’s the recipe we love!
Ingredients
- 1 pound hamburger
- dry minced onion
- 1 pkg mixed vegetables
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1/2 jar Cheese Whiz
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 bag of tater tots
Instructions
Brown hamburger and minced onion together.
Cook vegetables until tender. {If you have your own vegetables in the freezer, you can just mix and match what you want in it for the mixed vegetables.}
Stir together soups, Cheese Whiz, and milk. Add browned hamburger and cooked vegetables to soup mixture. Stir together and transfer to greased 9x13 baking dish.
Cover top with tater tots.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until hot through and bubbly!
Serve up and enjoy!
Notes
I often split the recipe between two 8x8's!

YUM. My fav. I wish my family liked it a bit better. I’m going to have to make it again soon – it’s been awhile!
I’m so happy to have Renae like it really well. Even Tucker eats it better than some things.
