Let’s get this party started on this Simply Tuesday!
Linking up with Carole!
Our list today is all about comfort food!!! What a great category!
Oh, also, if YOU like to make lists, you should check out this book. It is called The 52 Lists Project. I’m talking about it in a little more detail over in this blog post. I have really enjoyed jotting down lists in this journal book. I stuck one in my Mother’s birthday gift back in February. I like how the lists make you think about all the things in your life that are good and special or move your mind to dream and think and hope.
Ok then! ON TO OUR LIST FOR TODAY…………….
no. 1. Â Apple fritters. A small grocery in my hometown in Ohio makes the best apple fritters I have ever, ever eaten. Just so yummy.
no. 2. Tater-tot Casserole. Comfort. Yes. We just had this over the weekend. I love lima beans and I put them in my casserole. My children don’t share my taste buds. My son asked me if I could make the casserole without them and I promptly and immediately and decisively replied, “No, I can not. Absolutely can’t.” He then asked if he could make it without them and I once again promptly replied, “Yes. YOU could. But me? I can not!” 🙂 Just gotta have the lima beans for me! My kiddos pick theirs out and hand them over, so it all comes out even, don’t you think??!! Limas are one of those foods that SEEM to have two camps only. Love ’em or hate ’em. No middle ground. There COULD be leave ’em or take ’em people, but I haven’t met one.
no. 3. Bran Muffins. And now I want one!
no. 4. Lima beans again! Fixed by my Grandma. She made the absolute best creamed lima beans. MMMMM. Oh, memories!
no. 5. My mother’s meatloaf and mac and cheese. We almost always had them together. Comfort food, oh, comfort food!
no. 6. Monster Cookies! An absolute favorite!
no. 7. Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. Is any comfort food list complete without mashed potatoes? 😉
no. 8. Bean dip and tortilla chips. This is one of my favorite snacks.Â
no. 9. This green bean corn casserole is a very good comfort food side dish! Easy to put together!
no. 10. CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES. Nuff said.
This is the perfect time to share a couple of Julia Child quotes I recently came across and definitely loved.
I think careful cooking is love, don’t you? The loveliest thing you can cook for someone who’s close to you is about as nice a valentine as you can give.

I think one of the terrible things today is that people have this deathly fear of food: fear of eggs, say, or fear of butter. Most doctors feel that you can have a little bit of everything.

If you’re afraid of butter, use cream.

Do you have a favorite comfort food?

I love Julia’s last quote there! I concur! Tater tot casserole is also amazing stuff!!
🙂 Yes, indeed!
You’re making me hungry! Oh, it all sounds so good!
I know! Thinking about food does that! 🙂
