Linking up with Ginny and Frontier Dreams.
Happy yarn and books day!
This dishcloth is over half done. It looks all pretty rolled up into its flexi while it waits for its finish to happen!
I’m still really, really liking my bamboo knitting needles.
And still sweating away over my “cozy” from last week! It’s getting bigger, but I really question that the cable look is coming out right. We will see, when we get to the end and all in all, I am learning and it is exercising my brain!!
I’m putting my kid pick in first this week.
I adored this book when I was growing up. I don’t know how many times I read it.
Level-headed Mary and lively Jean. With four babies to care for all by themselves on a deserted island! Or is it deserted?
AND, a set of twins in the mix of the four babies. Add in a monkey and a noisy parrot and it makes for a delightful mix of a story!
What was one of your childhood favorite reads?
I found this book at our library last week. I’ve had it on my want-to-read list, so I just checked it right out. I started it and it is good-stuff, girls!!
Prayer. Praying. Praying strategically. Fighting back against the enemy with a battle plan. Praying FERVENTLY. If you’ve been wanting an encouragement to fuel your prayer life, Priscilla’s words will encourage you and embolden you to pick up your Sword and slay those dragons.
We need to pray, ladies. Prayer matters.
You can find Fervent here, or most likely at a store near your house!
And on the subject of prayer, there is a giveaway in this post to win a copy of For the Love of Our Husbands and a leather wrap reminder bracelet that says, “Praying for my Husband.” Go enter if you haven’t! It ends in a couple of days!
My books right now!
Some I’ve been reading on here and there for a bit!
I’d get through one faster if I only read one, but I just really like reaching for what I feel like meditating on at that particular time.
Savor is a devotional and has a page for each day of the year. I got it last year, part way through the year. I really enjoy Shauna Niequist’s words.
A peek inside my coloring book from last week. It was laying there on the side table in the living room and I sat down and colored a couple of pairs of shoes. A whole page/wardrobe of shoes to design with color! 🙂
This coloring book is called Secret Paris.
I could have a BIG stack of the coloring books. They’re so neat! Not that I would get them all colored any time soon!! Too many fun things to do and too many things that must be done and too many things that demand attention, even if I really want to ignore them! 🙂
What are you reading or creating or coloring?
I love all the coloring books! I have been using colored pencils in mine, but the colors aren’t as vibrant as I would like. I would like to buy some decent markers, but I get concerned about bleed through on the paper. That Fervent book looks good! I will have to see if my library has it!
I have colored pencils from Prismacolor that I like really well. I tried my Prismacolor markers and liked the look, but it did bleed through. I have some Tombow markers and they worked without going through.
I highly recommend Fervent!
I am knitting dish cloths too and I am with you, bamboo needles are great.
I’ve never heard of Baby Island, but it sounds sweet.
It is a fun book!
And happy dishcloth making!
I just started reading Fervent! Love all the colorful yarn!
Yarn and color is just so much fun! I found tears pouring down my cheeks just a few pages into Fervent and nodding my head and feeling the fervency inside me to brandish my sword and pray and fight back against the enemy. He’s wreaked havoc for far too long.
Oh Baby Island!!! That was one of my favorites too as a child, and I read it aloud to my daughter last year and she loved it too- it was the perfect mix of adventure and fun!
How fun to share it with your daughter as a read-aloud! I always loved the mental pictures of those cute babies. 🙂 As a child, you rather miss the fact about how much work it is to take care of little people! 🙂 🙂
I’m so glad to hear that you are enjoying Fervent! I did a Beth Moore study a few years ago that had a section by Patricia Shirer and it was amazing and I’ve wanted to go back to see more of her work! I will add that to my to-read list!
Isn’t reading classics with your children wonderful? I haven’t read that one but my own kids and I have been savouring the Enid Blyton Famous Five series and we all love them. I keep noticing that Dh is hanging around when we read, too, so they truly do work for the entire family!
There are a lot of very good authors and teachers and speakers and I appreciate their work very much. Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore are two of my favorites!
I’ve not heard of the Enid Blyton series. I will have to check it out! So fun to find books everyone enjoys. We read The Penderwick’s last year and really enjoyed it.
