I ventured into the library on Monday morning and I ended up carrying out a stack of books.
I had to laugh.
I went through a spell a few years ago where I didn’t read a lot. Between helping my farmer and caring for smaller kids and doing household stuff and life in general at that season, I just didn’t. I read to my kids. But not a lot to myself.
Now in this season, I have older kids, I still do farm running and still do household stuff {sometimes π } but I have spent a lot of time sitting or laying on the couch in the last couple years with back and sciatica stuff. One of the words for this season of my life would simply be, Slow. I have felt and I am slow at everything I try to do.
It frustrates me at times, yet there are lessons to learn.
Like any season, there are the goods and the bads, the pros and the cons.
Stacks of books have been a pro!
I have enjoyed it. I’ve been glad to find new favorites, revisit old favorites and renew reading.
A shout-out for giveaways!
If you like books and you like giveaways, enter giveaways for them! This whole stack are giveaways I’ve won over the summer.
Low entry giveaways are especially great to enter!
I used to think I never won anything. Well, PARTLY because I rarely entered anything. If you enter enough giveaways, you will win one at some point.
I also won a giveaway from Modern Burlap this summer. I was totally thrilled!
The blanket with the Swiss crosses is what I won from Modern Burlap. They paired it with a personal favorite of theirs – an ice cream cone shaped floatie for the pool. It was very fun to have this package arrive on our doorstep. The blanket is super soft and cozy. It’s warm, yet lightweight and nice for summertime.
The Live Loved pillow is handmade by my sister from Sew a Fine Seam. {The bicycle pillow in my other pictures comes from there as well.} You can find her on Instagram here. And she takes custom orders!
This is the floatie! Isn’t it adorable?
We have two giveaways taking entries right nowΒ at A Delightful Glow.
Both for gift certificates. This one is for Stationery Studio and this one for Family Christian!
AND, we have a giveaway starting tomorrow for a children’s board book, so pop back by and enter that. π
I was so thrilled to win a journaling Bible in the NIV version. I use NIV most of the time, though I like to read other versions and I like to compare versions. I’ve looked at the journaling Bibles off and on, but I really like the Bible I have and so I just look. I have done some lettering and drawing in my Bible. It’s a study Bible and has space in the margins. I’ve enjoyed it.
I’m anxious to read Mother & Son by Emerson Eggerichs. I really like Love & Respect.
And I was very, very happy to receive a signed coloring book from Melissa Micheals of The Inspired Room. I was part of the launch team for Make Room For What You Love and she did a giveaway in our group for a coloring book.
{I have blog posts about all her books if you want to browse through them:
This one has The Inspired Room.
This one has Make Room For What You Love.
And finally, Love The Home You Have. }
I’m enjoying looking at these two books. I’m simply anticipating them both.
KID PICK
This fun book about Tails! The front cover alone makes me smile.
Renae-J is back to weaving.
She didn’t do much over the summer.
It’s hard to tell in the picture, but she added another color. She did several rows of red and is beginning on gray. The color variation makes a pretty design.
And what of my knitting you may ask??? I did absolutely none last week.
Perhaps it is the stacks of books………………… π π π {And pulling sweet corn and running errands and resting and a plethora of other things right now.}
We watched the Peanuts movie over the weekend and it is really cute and funny. The comic strip was and is not a favorite of mine, so I wasn’t sure whether I would like the movie, but I really did! It was fun.
I finished A Million Little Ways. If you are needing or wanting encouragement to live out the art in you, grab a copy!
Still reading Bittersweet on my phone and working through The Wind in the Willows. I read Grace by Richard Paul Evans. It has deep lessons and rather a sad ending. His books often do involve pain or sadness, yet they are captivating stories and easy to read stories all rolled together.

I am a sucker for libraries too π
I just cannot go in and come out with one book!
It looks like you have been very busy just the same, I love the weaving, very cute!

I’m always excited when I find several books I’ve been wanting to read or I think about old favorites that I have not trysted with for a long while!
Happy reading to you!
