In case you missed that autumn is here, NOW you know. Because this Acorn Autumn Burlap Banner is announcing it to YOU! π
Do you remember in the Winans giveaway post I told you they sent me some empty burlap bags that their coffee beans come in?
And how I wanted to craft something with them? And it’d probably be later than sooner?
{And they sell the bags in their shops if you want to craft, too!}
I had some craft stuff out and I kept thinking about those burlap bags.
Finally, I marched upstairs and I sorted through them and I carried one back down to the basement with me.
I kept noticing the pennant banner my daughter made last year. Hmmm. Burlap pennants perhaps?
But, then I thought about my acorn cookie cutter and how burlap looks like autumn and maybe an acorn banner????!
So, I gave it a go.
I traced around my cookie cutter with a brown marker. The markerΒ I grabbed happens to be a dry erase marker. It worked fine. You could use any marker.
Then I cut it out. {With my pretty gold-handled scissors my sister gave me once-upon-a-time.}
I liked the brown edge of my tracing showing and left it.
Now. What will add a pop to my acorns?
LETTERS!! I can incorporate my handlettering.
I decided to spell out AUTUMN.
{More on the lettering below}
Once the lettering was finished, Β I grabbed my favorite stapler and stapled my acorns to my jute twine string to make them into a banner.
This stapler uses tiny brass staples. Love them!
You can order these staplers from my friend’s Etsy shop, here.
I love it for gift packaging and creating. I also use it for my cupcake liner flowers in this post.
Done and Done!
Would you like some acorn cookies to go with your acorn banner? Hop to this post.
I tried it a few places and left it draped on my wheat wreath.
A closer look at the letters.
I started working on “PRAISE.”
I used paint pens for the letters.
I wrote my letter with a gold paint pen and then outlined it with a black one. The outlining made the letters stand at attention.
You can find paint pens here.
My paint pens are oil-based and I used medium point for this project. I have fine point paint pens, too.
The gold one is metallic.
Here’s a look at some of my burlap bags from Winans.
This one is hanging in my upstairs landing room right now. I like it there!
This is another design and I have a couple more ideas of some fun things to do with them.
And one more look at the Burlap Banner!
