I’ve been spending a bit of time here and there on handlettering. I started combining it with my Bible study when I began working through the Open Your Bible study in January. This was soon after my back surgery and was a good recovery activity. I posted the pictures over in this post.
A friend invited me to a Bible study beginning in March. The study was Children of the Day by Beth Moore on 1&2 Thessalonians. I did this study two summers ago and I absolutely loved it.
Back in the fall, the Bible study group that I’d attended off and on for several years needed to change their location and day. This found me bidding farewell to this dear group of ladies, because the location and time neither one fit my schedule very well. I appreciated my years and time with the ladies and group very much. I enjoyed it a lot. “My ladies,” ~ this was often the term that popped into my head when I’d think about my Bible study ladies! 🙂
The group wasn’t always the same. There were some women who only attended one study and there were ladies who were there for every study. I was glad to get to know some friends better and make some new acquaintances. There is a season for everything! I truly am so grateful for this study group at just the time I needed it. God is so good. I deeply appreciated the inspiration each women offered and brought to the group. We had a good mix-up of ages in the group as well, and that was a blessing too. The wisdom from older women, who have been through a lot of life, is a gift.
{This totally makes me think of Giddy-Up Eunice again. {And it just released on Tuesday! If you didn’t pre-order, you can now just PLAIN ORDER. No pre- involved.} Because Giddy-Up Eunice is encouraging each of us as women to build each other up. Look for inspiration from the women ahead of you and share what you know with the women and daughters coming along behind.}
So, I was excited when my friend asked me if I was interested in the Children of the Day study. January through April or May would be my choice of months to attend something like this. Farm and summertime kick in and everything is busy enough then with everyday life!
Once again, I found myself pulling out paper and markers and handlettering something that especially spoke to me each week and taking a picture and posting it on Instagram. I often could have pulled something out of each day of homework. 🙂
If you are looking for a new Bible study, starting on June 9th, which just happens to be TODAY, you can join in over at Lifeway Women. They are doing Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God for Summer Bible Study. I’m signed up for it!
War Room was my favorite movie last year. Then I recently read Fervent and was so inspired and encouraged by it. I’m looking forward very much to cracking open the cover for Armor of God. I’m planning to handletter something from it each week, too. I hope I can manage it! 🙂 Harvest will be hitting soon!
I enjoy the handlettering and I think it helps the quote or verse “stick with me” better when I take the time to let the words flow out on paper.
What are you studying in the Bible right now?

I absolutely LOVED Children of the Day! I’ve been having significant health challenges which have cut my social time WAY down! I love being with my friends, but I need to conserve my energy for my 3 boys and my precious husband… but, I still think of my old bible study group as “my ladies”!! I am just finishing “Jesus the One and Only” and have her study on James sitting in a Christian Book Distributors box in my bedroom! I love the handlettering….. so beautiful! such a neat post 🙂
I loved it too. Prayers for YOU and your health issues. Pain and health struggles definitely impact all areas of life.
“Jesus the One and Only” was the very first study I ever did of Beth Moore’s. 🙂
I love James almost as much as Children of the Day. Both of them offer the option to handwrite the books and I loved that feature.
Esther is one of my all-time favorite studies that I’ve done.
Thank-you for your sweet words! They made my day!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful and tender inspiration with us at TOHOT!
We love having you.
Jemma
Thank-YOU, so much!
Oh I love the hand lettering! So beautiful and different. I have taught almost every single one of Beth’s Studies except for Children of the Day. Sounds great. But I do love me Priscilla Shirer too and Fervent is excellent. I have watched the War room twice. Loved it. Happy Day! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
I loved Children of the Day and I am looking forward to Entrusted on 2 Timothy coming out in September. Esther is also one of my absolute favorites. Another favorite was Ruth by Kelly Minter.
How awesome that you have taught so many studies. Bless you! I wish I could soak everything in and remember it and live it so much better than I do. 🙂
Thanks so much for your sweet words!
I love the combination of the two. That’s a great way to slow down and ponder the words and thoughts while being artistic.
Happy Thoughts of Home. 🙂
Exactly! The phrases or verses definitely stick with me better.
“You can’t quit now. You’re almost home!!”
How this encourages us to live with ‘eternal perspective.’
I know! Those words just really resonated with me.
Encouragement speaks deeply into my life.
What beautiful and inspiring work. You have a true talent. Thank you for so faithfully joining us at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. You are a treasured blogging friend.
Thank-you, Laura! Your kind words made my day! You are always so dear and kind.
