About the middle of January I spied a fun idea on Laura from Decor to Adore’s Instagram. She’d made some really cute Valentine prize ribbons. I hopped over to her blog post and I filed the idea away in my head and on Pinterest.
The week before last I pulled out the idea, my craft paper, ribbons and cupcake liners to see what I could create. These Valentine ribbons began to emerge!
They have been so fun!
Thank-you Laura for the idea!
Mine are completely different, but I’ve loved creating and I’m so grateful for inspiration that sparks fun ideas.
I’ve been using a medley mix of paper, washi tape, tulle, cut-out shapes -some pre-cut, some I’ve cut.
Plus, regular scotch tape, a glue stick, scissors, stapler and a hot glue gun.
{And you’ll want some candy bars.}
This one for Renae ended up reversible. Which sort of cracks me up!
Reversible jacket. Reversible sweater. Reversible Valentine. It’s all good!
I incorporated my cupcake paper flowers into my Valentine ribbons.
I cut glittery hearts out of a roll of glitter tape I have.
I wrapped up candy bars and secured the ribbons to them. I finished off the back with tags {idea from Laura’s ribbons} proclaiming, “You’re a prize!”
I grabbed a variety of candy bars, but I chose flat ones, such as Mr. Goodbar or Hershey’s Cookies and Cream or Cadbury Caramel. They wrap well and offer a flat surface to tape the ribbon to.
I used this bowl to trace around and cut out shapes for the body of several of my ribbons. I did use cupcake liners for a couple, but ended up liking this shape from paper about the best.
If you want to make some prize ribbons, look around your home and start ideas rolling off of what Laura used or what I’ve done. Or Google. Of course! 😉
Some more styles! I really did have fun!
Do you like Valentine’s Day?
Do you ever craft Valentines?
A buncha years ago, my daughter and I did a simple craft for a few of her little friends for Valentine’s Day. If I remember correctly, You bought pink party hats. You turned them upside down, point down. You decorated the outside with stickers or markers. Add a ribbon across the chinstring for the handle. Just staple it in place. Fill the hats with fun candy or treats. Super simple. Super cute. They were fun. I doubt I even have any pictures of them. I think it was before I even owned my first digital camera.
