Pretty dishes and a table spread with beauty.
From simple to elaborate, they draw me every time.
Tablescapes catch my eye in magazines, on blogs, in books, on Instagram.
Spreading out dishes and arranging and spelling out love and care for the people who will grace the table.
Home and food.
They both speak of life and breathe life into us.
The colors in the food. The textures. Crispness. Flakiness. Fragrance and taste.
We savor it all.
Gathering around and pulling in. It’s a sensory experience. It refreshes us more than we know sometimes.
I love the sentiment behind Valentine’s Day.
To me, it’s a day about love and relationships. The story of St. Valentine is an interesting one. And though he was standing up for the God-ordained institution of marriage, to me, Valentine’s Day, isn’t exclusively for couples.
It’s a sweet time to share the sentiments of your heart to any and all those near and dear to you.
Everyone thrives on words of endearment and appreciation.
And it just so happens that setting a pretty table now and then is one of my “loves”. It makes me happy. It is one of my creative things, though it took me a long time to recognize it as that and for what it was. 🙂
I used to say I wasn’t creative or crafty. But I’ve realized it over time, that we all are. Everybody is in some way. Whether it is in painting a Peterbilt or a motorcycle, making paper flowers, drawing a portrait, building with Legos, welding, singing, playing a sport, composing music, sewing, playing with little people, creating a delicious meal…..
Well, you see, the list is endless!
And we all have our thing or things. The things we love and thrive at. The things we do simply for the joy of doing them.
Did you see my place card holders at each table setting? Go over here to my sister’s blog for the DIY and see the idea that inspired me to make them. And go take a look at these I Love You pillows made by my daughter.
Have a happy week and a Happy Valentine’s Day! Do something you love and hug your people.

Aunt Donna’s tablecloth really looks pretty with your beautiful dishes, etc. She would be happy to see you using it. Your table looks so inviting!
