Blessed Good Friday, friends!
What are your Easter plans this year? It’s a different year, yet Easter is unchanged. Jesus is Risen Indeed!!! Hallelujah!
On this Friday afternoon, I have a Bible GIVEAWAY for us.
I’m happy to get to share another Bible giveaway and happy I could share it for Easter weekend. It seemed just right.
This is the CSB Life Essentials Interactive Study Bible. It features 1500 Principles to Live By from Gene A. Getz. I’m grateful to receive a review copy from Lifeway.
The introduction includes the above question, “Why Another Study Bible?” I liked the answer and perspective from the author. {Pictured above}
Truth is, we all have a unique take to offer through our studies and words. We continue to learn and grow all throughout our lives. We gain a deeper understanding or new insight. Sometimes we pivot a bit as we think about a passage in a new light. I don’t believe one single person becomes the total authority. Jesus speaks through His Word to each of us. He speaks through other people. He invites us, gently beckons us, to invite Him into our lives and continually call on Him to open our hearts and minds to understand His ways. I believe this more deeply all the time. Thus, I think it is a blessing in the age we live in, to have access to a variety of teachers, authors, books, and translations. I am grateful.
Do you have a cozy spot you like to curl up for Bible reading or study time? Mine changes and I’ve felt a bit scattered recently. But I’ve been using this corner of my couch for a couple of months now. I rearranged a few things in our living room and tugged my gray woven felt bin for books and journals into the corner by the couch. This blanket is cozy and the pillow reminds me of how loved I am.
Here’s an overview about the Bible from the website ~
“In the CSB Life Essentials Study Bible, renowned Bible teacher, Dr. Gene Getz guides readers through Scripture by expounding on 1,500 life principles found throughout the Bible. Distilling these truths into life principles, Dr. Getz helps readers remember and apply the Bible’s wisdom to everyday life.The CSB Life Essentials Study Bible integrates a multimedia digital study system with more than 250 hours of in-depth video teachings from Dr. Gene Getz on these essential life principles (accessed through smartphone-accessible QR codes). Questions follow each principle to inspire personal reflection or group discussion. A topical index and cross references for all 1,500 life principles are included, and each book introduction provides a list of corresponding life principles found in that book.”
I like the concept of focusing in on principles and why they matter to our lives. Applying Biblical principles to my life helps me grow as a person of integrity. Placing these in this format promotes understanding for why we live the way we do. It shows why things are right and wrong. It builds on truth and why a strong foundation matters.
I’m looking forward to reading through more of the principles outlined in each book and studying the reflect and respond questions after each. I need this in the daily details of living my life!
Here’s the thing. I’m familiar with these Biblical principles. They aren’t brand-new to me. But I so often forget or I fail or I get caught up in focusing on my agenda. I need the reminders. I need refreshed. I need new insight.
I find it much easier to talk Bible, but then living it out in realtime when my patience is thin or my pain level is high, is a whole different thing.
At the front of the Bible, there’s a page outlining the Apostle John’s perspective of salvation in his Gospel. Flip the page and you’ll find Paul’s perspective in his letter to the Romans.
There’s an index containing principles by topic to help you find references. It’s a very helpful tool.
Each book of the Bible has an introduction page giving a quick overview of the principles in that particular book.
Scriptures from which the principles are based are highlighted in blue throughout the entire Bible. Each principle is outlined and given a closer look in a paragraph or two.
Like many Bibles, this one is available in several cover options. 🙂 There’s hardcover, genuine leather, or a pretty leathertouch in a couple of colors.
This is a short video overview of the Bible if you would enjoy getting an inside look through video! You can also visit the website right here.
Another neat feature is the ability to scan the QR codes all through the Bible and access the 250 hours of free in-depth video teaching to accompany each life principle. The Tony Evans Study Bible offers QR codes as well, and I think it’s a beautiful way to use the technological tools available to us today.
I have a heart and appreciation for study Bibles. The Word of God is true and righteous. I appreciate the questions, explanations, and further tools for study in the pages of study Bibles. I like having it all in one book. It’s helpful to me when I have a question or want to ponder on a passage. I like learning about customs from the days of Jesus or getting a definition for a word from the Hebrew or Greek.
I hope your Easter weekend is blessed, comrade friends! {And if you’re reading this after the weekend, I hope Easter was lovely for you as well!}
