Hello friends! We have a movie and a giveaway to chat about for a few minutes today!
Angel Studios, who brought us THE CHOSEN, is releasing a
new film, HIS ONLY SON, a film about Abraham and
Isaac.
Short Synopsis: After being called on by the Lord, Abraham’s faith is tested on his
three-day journey to sacrifice his son.
Angel Studios shared an early release of the movie for me to watch and share my review with you. I’ve been a big fan of The Chosen, so I was happy to get to watch His Only Son. I enjoy the creative license of bringing the truth of a Bible story and adding imaginative elements to the story and thinking about what it must have been like for them as they lived out their lives and faith.
Three Things that Resonated with me:
- The struggle they portrayed within Sarah with doubts and questions and faith and how this could have led to her suggestion for Abraham to have a son through Hagar
- There are question and dialogue parts that wrestle with questions we have in our faith
- How the story of Isaac points toward redemption and the Son whom God would send
This film moves slowly toward Mount Moriah and shows Abraham pondering flashbacks and memories of his and Sarah’s lives and the eventual birth of Isaac. It’s a journey of grappling with and grasping on to faith and a ready reminder of redemption as Easter approaches. It reminds us of the intensity of faith and the equal intensity of our doubts, fears, and questions. And most of all, a God who reaches down and rescues.
Buy tickets here and watch HIS ONLY SON in theaters on March 31st.
I’d love to hear if you do and what resonated with you.

All opinions are completely my own.
That God was faithful and kept His promise.
That this couple had such strong faith in God that even though it seemed their prayers would not be answered, God gave them a gift of a son. Then God tested their faith after answering their prayers. I am always amazed and awed by faith this strong and wonder if I’d ever have even an ounce of their faith.
The amount of faith captures my attention.
I’m not that familiar with the story and would like to learn more about it.
This sounds like a great family movie.
That they kept their faith and followed through. Perseverance. That He was with them though it all.
