We had snow over the weekend and it made everything so pretty and made an instant Christmas-ey feel! There were icicles hanging along the edges of the porch and they were beautiful in the morning sunlight. They fascinate me with their glassy shimmer and splendid shine. It started warming up and they began to drip and then fall in sections into the snow covered boxwoods below.
If you want a baking project or want to add a bit of festive to your food for Christmas, these braided yeast roll wreaths are quite fun! They aren’t extremely hard, but they do take a bit of time.
Use your favorite yeast dough or I have a recipe for butterhorn dough right here.
Mix it and let it raise.
Roll dough into three rope strands and braid them together.
Form braid into a circle, bringing ends together.
{You’ll see this in the pictures}
Cut out leaf shapes with a small cutter or freehand if you’d like. I have a small cutter I use. 🙂
Roll three tiny balls of dough for the berries.
Place leaves and berries on your wreaths.
Let raise and then bake approximately 10-18 minutes or as you would for yeast rolls.
Enjoy!!! You’ll find a recipe for honey butter to slather on rolls, right over here.
I had fun rolling and shaping these. I am still searching to perfect the leaves and berries. Some of them didn’t want to stay on the wreath. Others were perfect. I don’t know if some of them needed to be placed more on the top part of the wreath. I am also considering shaping the leaves and berries and placing them on directly before baking. Any suggestions?! 🙂
Do you have favorite foods you like to fix for Christmas?

Did you brush with egg wash before placing the leaves? If not that might help.
I didn’t and that is a great idea! Thanks!
