All my projects are about the same ole, same ole. Rather like last week.
Back in October, I pulled out a sweet little sweater set from the cedar chest that my aunt made for my baby daughter, to share at Yarn Along. Right before that the Raggedys came to visit for Yarn Along.
I thought then it would be fun to share some other fun and lovely things from the days when my kiddos were babies.
This was a good week to pull out this dear baby dress that my sister made for my baby daughter.
I still love it so much!
Now technically, it’s not “Yarn”, but it is handmade and just so adorable! And it does have embroidery floss, which is sort of yarny!
My sister is such a talented seamstress. She’s loved to sew since she was very young. Find her blog over here at Sew a Fine Seam.
Look at all the fun detail!
I had so much fun dressing my baby girl up in this. That was before the digital picture age. Just think of all the fun pictures I’d have of her if “then” was “now”. 🙂
And even tiny, soft shoes with bright flowers!
Pretty much still slowly reading through these titles.
I did finish this dishcloth and worked a bit more on the mitt.
I’m procrastinating on the mitt. I’m ready for a couple of new steps and I’m not sure about it.
I quite excel at doing things the WRONG way and then realizing HOW I SHOULD HAVE DONE IT.
You could say I learn by doing.
As in, doing it the wrong way and the re-doing! 🙂
Anyhow, it is requiring some brainwork and concentration and it seems like I’ve had plenty of other have-tos requiring the same thing, thus I procrastinate on the project!
I picked up this book at our library last week, but I haven’t taken time to browse through it yet. The bag and all the bright colors caught my eye.
What have you been creating?

I like your definition of learning by doing! The little dress is darling. As I have been spinning embroidery thread, I certainly agree it is yarn-y.
I’m not sure I always like my definition of learning by doing! It would be nice not to do it wrong before realizing how I should have done it! 🙂 Haha!
How fun that you are spinning embroidery thread!
My mom used to make all of my clothes when I was little. I wish she still had them! All that hand smocking!
I have some darling hand-smocked dresses my sister also made for my daughter. They may show up here sometime!
It would be fun if you had the clothes your Mom made. Yet, it is impossible to keep everything! 🙂
