Pom-poms. They’ve been happening.
They are seriously fun. I’m intending to make a pom-pom wreath, but for now I am utterly and utmost DELIGHTED with how terribly cute they are in piles and tucked into a basket as part of my decor.
Just tickled pink.

UPDATE:
{If you are as taken as I am or as infatuated by or head-over-heels for pom-poms, OR after seeing these have a sudden and addictive desire to make some then here’s a couple of details about mine. AND I WARN YOU. They are addictive!! 😉 I ordered this pom-pom maker pack from Wal-Mart.com. The pom-poms in this post are all made with the smaller one. The same pack of pom-pom makers is right here on Amazon. I am using Lion Brand Hometown USA super bulky yarn. Also ordered from Wal-Mart. There are a lot of fun color choices! I have the Los Angeles Tan, New York White, Monterey Lime and Cape Cod Tweed. The bulky yarns make great pom-poms. This Lion Brand Tweed Stripes yarn looks like it would make awesome pom-poms. I like all the color options.}
AND with this whole surgery/recovery thing I finished my poor, lonely, languishing leaf!
In this Yarn-Along post, I showed you the leaves my mother sent to me that I made into a leaf garland at my window. She also sent four of these gray ones and I’ve been using them as coasters on our table and LOVING it.
See? A-tisket, A-tasket, Pom-poms in a basket.
I finished these two books yesterday. I was almost finished with both, {I’ve been reading Anne for quite a while} and they are almost due back at the library. That helps spur the reading!
I also finished another dishcloth….finally. There are definite perks to taking it easy.
Instead of a book for kids this week, I bring you one of our very favorite movies!
The Very First Noel
It became a member of our dvd library several years ago when we had littles. We just love it and it has become our tradition to watch it every year. The story is just so sweet.
It is narrated by Andy Griffith and written in rhyme! Superb!
We are still eagerly reading Ishtar’s Odyssey everyday as well!
Linking up with Ginny and Frontier Dreams and Life and Yarn!

small fun projects sound just right for this time of year….your basket of pompoms look very festive!!!
Thank-you! I am really enjoying them!
Now that’s a pile of pom-poms! I downloaded The Magic of Tidying Up to my Audible last night. I’m hoping to start it today. I’m also hoping it motivates me to get my house in order next year.
I always enjoy reading a book about organizing or home decor, because it motivates me to do things around my house. 🙂
I enjoyed The Magic of Tidying Up although my worldview is quite different from the author’s. I really like her concept of the things in your home sparking joy. I’ve long loved the saying to have only things you love or use in your home.
Pom poms make me smile, they are soul food 😉 But so totally is Anne! So much goodness going on in your place rihe now, I think we are Kindred Spirits!
Definitely of the race that knows Joseph! I had forgotten about this description until I re-read Anne’s House of Dreams and Anne of Ingleside this fall.It isn’t as widely used as kindred spirits, but I like it just as well!
Totally loving your description of pom-poms. MOST definitely soul food. And they are addictive! Haha! 🙂
Omg so many pompoms, love it!
I know!!! Me too!
Beautiful knitting! I have been thinking about the life changing magic of tidying up – I have seen many people talk about it over the past year. I’m not sure though, maybe I should just check it out from the library and see what the fuss is about!
I saw it talked about here and there and then happened to see it at our library and checked it out.
I enjoyed reading it, although my worldview is much different than the author’s. 🙂
She talks about the things you own sparking joy and I liked that concept.
Reading an organizational or home decor book always motivates me to dig into some areas of my home!
The pictures of pom poms just brings a smile to the face. Who would have thought? Feeling a very strong urge to make some now. 🙂
Oh, you definitely should make some!! 🙂
So so sweet, I want to know what you plan to so with all those pompoms! And how did you do it? Do you have one of those pompom makers? I have a new love for them!
I want to make a pom-pom wreath. I also have seen pom-pom garlands that would be a lot of fun. Another idea I’ve had is to use them on top of gifts or tied to gift bags.
I do have a pom-pom maker. They are inexpensive and they are GREAT! I would recommend using one.
I LOVE those grey leaves…oh my! those pom poms are so good. soooo good. I have a pom pom maker thing and now you have inspired me to get it out and make some!! how did you make yours?
I really like the gray leaves too! They are so fun to have on my table and they make me think of my mother! So, score.
YES!!!! Get your pom-pom maker out. That’s what I used and it was is so much fun. Very simple. {And addictive.} Be warned!! 🙂
I totally recommend a pom-pom maker.
yup! totally making some of these this weekend! 😀
I’m just as delighted with your pompoms as you are! How fun! Mine never come out as full and wonderful as yours, though. 🙁 I saw from glancing at the other comments that you used a pompom maker… maybe I need to invest in one of those!
I did use a pom-pom maker and it is super-duper handy-dandy!!
I used Lions Brand yarn Hometown USA. It is super bulky. I think that is probably what gives the pom-poms their fluffy fullness. I ordered it from Walmart.com. I’m looking at my tan skein and the color on it says Los Angeles Tan.
I ordered my pom-pom maker from there as well and it was very inexpensive. It was a package of two and I’ve been using the smaller sized one.
