This book released yesterday!
I mentioned it in last week’s post and said I would expound further on it this week. {Or something like that!}
A favorite concept, for me, in this book is this one:
Listening for heart drops.
This means paying attention to the things your family and friends like and enjoy. Then using these ideas for birthdays or surprise thinking-of-yous or cheer up gifts for down days.
For example…I could deliver a caramel breve to my sister’s door and she would be thrilled.
My mother thoroughly enjoys fresh flowers. We gifted her with a bouquet delivery once-a-month-for-six-months for her birthday.
My son is always happy to eat McDonalds. He was thrilled every time I delivered McDonald’s food to him when he was driving the tractor this summer. Legos have been his love language since forever!
Miss R loves sandwiches from Arbys or Sonic. You could never give her too many journals.
Peanut M&M’s are my man’s favorite. And Toblerone. We both love Toblerone. A brimming pitcher of iced tea makes him happy.
I’ve gifted my in-laws with cookies and Mom always appreciates it because baking isn’t one of her top ten things to do.
One of my best friends really likes chocolate covered coffee beans. Actually, two of my friends love them. I have a best friend who I can always give a candle to. She loves them and almost always has one burning. My aunt likes mint really well. Grasshopper cookies, York peppermint patties, mint ice cream. You name it.
Another friend loves Pepsi. And Peanut Butter M&M’s make another of my good friends smile. I have a couple friends who love hand-knitted dishcloths and I almost always stick one in a gift for them. {I forget sometimes!}
I have a friend who really likes flexis from Lilla Rose. She’s been a sweet customer of mine and it gives me a great gift idea for her.
See how it works? No rocket science to it. 🙂
You can purchase Listen, Love Repeat right here on Amazon or find it at most booksellers! Perhaps it’s just the right heartdrop gift for a book lover in your life. 🙂
Oh, and knitting! Those are my dishcloths for the week. I ran out of red yarn and I’m finishing with an odd scrap that doesn’t match at all. It will be a dishcloth for me to use instead of giving it away! 🙂
I flipped through The Inspired Room a little bit yesterday. It’s such a fun and beautiful book. It would make a good gift for anyone who loves home and decor and beauty and organizing.
We read Flash the Donkey Makes New Friends last week when my nieces came to stay. We read it twice to be exact!!!
KID PICK
This Really Woolly board book~
Really Woolly Bedtime Prayers.
I love Really Woolly!! So adorable and cuddly and cheerful!
They always look so happy and excited and it’s contagious.
I like their notecards.
This set of encouragement cards are adorable! {One of the designs involves knitting!}
And these thank-you cards are so happy!
I was trying to remember the names of some cute, bright Bible story board books we had when our kiddos were little, after talking about Bible books for children with a young mama friend last week. With a little searching, I’m pretty sure it was the Beginner Bible series. I passed them on when my children got older. I really liked them.
I found these adorable pre-cut flannel board figures featuring the Beginner Bible characters when I was looking up the books. Aren’t they fun?!
I DID IT!!!!!
My fingerless mitts are finished! Not without mistakes and flaws, but finished nevertheless! I’m so happy! A friend asked me about making her a pair and it sounds fun to do the pattern again.
My second one ended up a little bigger than the first one. I must have been more relaxed and knitted more loosely! 🙂 🙂
What are you working on this week?
Linking up with Ginny and Frontier Dreams ~
Love the idea of listening to “heart drops”! I should use up my stash by making dish cloths. Love your mitts. Fun post. I’m always interested in what people are reading and in kids books. Thanks!
Children’s books are one of my favorite things. 🙂 I like seeing what other people are reading too, and I like to getting book ideas from other blogs etc.
I shall have to look for the Listen Love Repeat book. What a wonderful read! I’m hoping to start on some fingerless gloves when I’m through with Christmas gifts. Which may be never! 🙂
Happy Christmas gift creating….even if you’re not sure you see the end in sight! 😉
I enjoyed watching my fingerless mitts take shape. Have fun making a pair!
