Today, I have clothes to jabber about and a tale for you from my Friday, last Friday!
I found this gray and black stripey sweater clearanced out at Wal-Mart two winters ago. It’s really, really comfy.
I have a cropped layering shell from Deborah & Co under my sweater. These shells are a favorite!
I was liking it paired with my black ruffly skirt. The picture doesn’t show it so well, but the bottom of the skirt has layered ruffles. It’s from New Creation Apparel. Go here to see it on their site. You can see the details better! It’s super comfy! {That must be the theme for today’s wardrobe.} {In all honesty, I do like comfy!!}
I’m wearing the Steampunk flexi ~ I love the mix of metals. Don’t miss our Christmas styles at Lilla Rose, like the Holly Leaf and Emerald Joy and others!
I can not remember what company my necklace is from. But isn’t it cute?! I love the turquoise flower.
My thankful pillow and happy orange leaf pillow are both from my sister’s shop………..right here! {She has some super-cute Christmas designs available right now.}
The black and white blanket is from Modern Burlap. {Love both of these shops!}
{Psst…two giveaways to enter if you haven’t seen them. Say and Pray Devotions board book and a marriage book, The Blessings of Unity.}
Now for the tale of Friday past ~
……………………………………………………….
Last Friday, we last minute decided to invite friends over for munchies and a movie in the evening.
Thus, I found myself trekking off to town to get some of the aforementioned munchies, so we COULD have munchies and a movie.
I was going to go to the bank and drop off a coat at the dry cleaners that Miss R. picked up at a thrift shop and get a few other various things that I’d been adding to a grocery list.
Well, ok.
We need a bit more back story here.
{I’m usually over describing. Details, you know!!}
I baked a Brownie Pie with Toasted Marshmallows on Friday morning.
{You need to know how my morning started.}
A friend and her littles were coming by for coffee and chatting and celebrating her recent birthday.
I felt good when I got up. I started my day, did a few this-and-thats and turned to cleaning up my kitchen and mixing up my brownie pie. {Amongst my working, Tucker decided to mix and make pancakes.}
But everything was going swimmingly.
Into the oven the brownie pie went.
I swept a bit in the backroom and pulled out coffee ingredients. {Yes, it takes more then one thing to make coffee! 😉 }
The timer went off. I checked my brownie pie. Not quite done. I gave it a few more minutes and pulled it out. Didn’t even check it again. It looked done.
WELL.
One cannot always tell by looks can one???
No, one can not.
When I cut the brownie to serve and eat with my friend, the center was not done. AT ALL. Now, I like gooey brownies, but this was beyond gooey.
Ah, well. Another day. Another brownie. We ate from around the edges and it was still yummy.
Not a big deal, but that was part of my morning. And I wasn’t at all worried about impressing my friend, but I would have liked to bless her with a tasty treat…..preferrably one baked just right!! 🙂
It got really funny to me as my afternoon progressed and I thought back to it.
After a quick lunch, I headed to town for munchies.
The first of the funnies began.
I pulled up in front of the dry cleaners and suddenly thought, “Hmmm. I don’t think they’re open in the afternoons.” Sure enough.
HOURS: 7-12 and 4:15-6:00
The clock on my dash said 1:30.
And I wanted to be home before 4:00.

NEXT!!!
Bank drive-thru, here I come.
WOOPS. Bank drive-thru, I’ll drive-thru, but that’s all I’ll do today.
It’s Veteran’s Day and the bank was CLOSED.
Ok, deposits, I’ll do that another day.
NEXT UP.
Wal-Mart. Always Wal-Mart.
I wrangled my cart and pulled out my phone to bring up my shopping list. As I cut through the women’s clothing section, something caught my eye.
I had to chuckle. Then stop. Then open my camera on my phone and take a picture.
I’d found it!!!! The perfect Christmas dress.
I texted the picture to my sister and a few friends with this caption
“I found my Christmas dress. SOOOOO excited. If any of you would like to match me, good ole Wal-Mart!”
I think my friends were quite blessed by my fabulous find!
Wal-Mart done and done and off to Dillons.
As I entered the store and once again wrangled a cart, I stepped around the corner while also looking over at the floral department because I love all the pretty flowers. I was sorta scoping it out and not paying too much attention. Suddenly, I realized there was a kind gentleman to my left patiently waiting for me to give him room to go on by and exit the store.
I begged his pardon and stepped lively. I also caught a case of the giggles at myself. I was beginning to wonder if I was safe to be out on my own.
CHOCOLATE. I must need chocolate. Pretty sure, that’s the needed vitamin!
{Are you starting to understand where my Ten Handy Helpful Housewife Hints might come from?!!}
I gathered my groceries and I sharpened my counting skills as I did. Dillons was running one of their BUY 10 Save $5 sales. I had twenty items and I counted carefully a couple of times. I’ve messed it up before and the way this day was playing out…….. Haha!
As the cashier began ringing up my purchases {no self-check-out today, though in hindsight…….} the young man working as a carry-out began to bag them. I’d seen him before, but today I noticed his name tag. It read, “Gunther”. This made me giggle again, inside, not out loud. Somehow it fit the day. Memories bounced into my brain.
My very first Cabbage Patch Doll was this darling, huggable little boy in short overalls with an elephant in the corner. He had curly, loopy, yarny hair and I LOVED him. LIKE MANY MEN, my dad liked to tease. He had terrible fun calling my dear Sigmund, “Gunther” instead of his REAL name!!! The insult of it!!! The reaction he would elicit from me!! Every time. 🙂
So today, Gunther bagged my groceries. He did a very nice job.
He loaded them all safely into the back of my Yukon and he headed back to the store and I headed for my driver’s seat.
I scanned my receipt after I climbed in and realized I only had 19 items scanned for the Buy 10 Save $5. Realllllly?????? How did I mess it up this time?
I looked it over more carefully and realized that a Peach Tea had not been scanned, thus not counted.
I dug through a couple of bags, found the tea and headed back in to the service desk.
NOTE TO SELF: When using self check-out, one can check on these things before the transaction is complete.
By this time, I’m starting to see that IT’S JUST ONE OF THOSE DAYS!!! Might as well roll with it.
All Right. Ready to head for home and make Party Mix.
I’d texted a friend when I arrived in town and told her I’d drop a coffee drink off to her on my way home if she wanted. She’d been having several rough things and ups and downs recently.
She texted me her order and I headed out of Dillons and towards McDonalds.
There was just enough chill in the air that she thought a Mocha latte sounded yummy.
I ordered my Mocha Latte and pulled to the first window.
Paid my bill.
Forward to get my latte.
The McDonalds employee slid the window open and handed out………..a frappucino instead!
“Oh,” I said. “I ordered a latte.”
“But,” I continued, “I can take this and could I just order and pay for a latte, too?”
My friend likes fraps really well, but when you’re thinking HOT coffee drink, it isn’t quite the same.
“Yes, you can,” said the waitress. “But I’ll just give it to you. We messed your order up.”
“I’d be glad to pay for it,” I replied. But McDonald’s wouldn’t let me. I thought it was kind of them. Latte could very easily sound like frappe through a speaker, I think!
The very fun part of it was delivering both to my friend’s door! “You can have your pick!” I told her. “Hot or cold, or a sip of one and then the other!” “Or stick the frap in the freezer for later.”
I pulled away from my friend’s and was soon pulling into my own garage.
I’m HAPPY to report that we made it through the rest of the evening with no further incidents. Amazing as it may be!
Laughter-in-the-everyday………………………….small things can become so funny, if we take the time to find it!
Did you have FUNNY in your week this week?! I sure hope so!!
