We’re listing Ten Ways To Lend a Hand to a New Mama ~
Here goes ~
1. Food. Any food. Any kind. A lot or a little. It all helps. I have not forgotten to this day the friends and family who blessed us with food after our babies were born. And my kids are teenagers! I can still taste the vanilla pudding one friend brought and the meat and potato casserole from another friend and the delicious cinnamon rolls one of my husband’s friend’s mother left on our kitchen table.
2. Admire her beautiful baby!!! We mamas KNOW our babies are the most beautiful ever!!! {Now I chuckle at my kiddos tiny pictures.}
3. Amazon gift cards. Having diapers or other household things shipped right to your door is wonderful!
4. Find out what will bless her most. Ask what she needs and do what you can.
5. Snuggle baby and let her take a nap.
6. Wash dishes and fold laundry. Sweep floors.
7. Pick up groceries or items from the store and save her a trip.
8. Lend a listening ear. Being a new mama is exciting and exhilarating and exhausting! It just has EMOTIONS. Share your experience and answer any questions you can!
9. Gift her with a massage or a pedicure. Fix up a gift bag or box of items solely to pamper the mama! Lotion. Chocolate. Yummy drink. A candle. And you could stick in Pampers for baby as well! 🙂 Oh, and a bouquet of fresh flowers! I believe flowers to be such a day brightener.
10. Snap a few pictures of her baby dear if she desires and send them to her. I love pictures. Right after a new baby arrives, it can be a full day in itself, just to care for yourself and baby and any other small people! Extras don’t always happen.
One of my best friends just had sweet, sweet baby twin boys! They are so dear! Caring for two babies takes time, though. I’m so glad for all the help she’s had from her mama and family and friends. I know she is so grateful! I remember baby days and their own brand of busy they bring with them. Many, many blessings in baby days! And the cobwebs and dust really CAN wait, but some days it feels so good to have a clean house AND a baby to snuggle! 🙂
What helped you the most in your new-mama days?

Oh those new mama days. I’d love to sit and cuddle my newborns again. But the sleep-deprived haze I lived in I do not miss. Those two weeks of baby blues I had to deal with after each of them I do not miss. But the oh-so-soft baby cheeks and the sweet baby breath and the grunts and gurggles – I miss those. I think God mixed in the not-so-fun stuff so that it would be easier to move on as they grow older and change.
Seems like there’s always the very, very good parts and the not-so-really-great parts in every season of life!
It has been fun to have baby nieces again. And right now to have a few friends with cuddly, dear babies!
