Summer Blessing Giveaway

Dear Summer,

You are my favorite right next to spring. I like your long days. I like the heat and feeling the sun shine down upon us. Yes, it’s hot. I’m blessed though, Summer, because my house is cooled with air conditioning and I like to swim and we have abundant, fresh water.

Summer, I like the blooms you bring. I like my cheery flowerpots and I like pouring water over them. I like the sweet corn in our garden spot, getting tall. I like the vines of pumpkin and gourd plants stretching and curling out.

I like the season of farming even though it all hits at once and busy is upon us. I like harvest and I like watching the stubble fields turn over from the disc and lay there waiting for the next rain.

Oh, and Summer, I like the delicious fresh fruit you produce! Berries and peaches and watermelons. I like the cold of ice cream on my tongue, dear Summer. I like sliding into flip-flops every time I head out the door. I like grilling food and smelling the smoke waft from it. I like evenings on my front porch and early morning cool.

Dear Summer, you move so swiftly. We need you to slow down and offer a few more opportunities for lazy summer days. I want to watch the sprinklers dance and spray and smell the fresh mown grass. I need more time to swim and a few more chances to get the hammock out. I want to make another pitcher of ice cold lemonade and gallons more of iced tea.

Summer dear, linger longer!
