A few ways I’m choosing to savor the Christmas season this year….
.
• I did some decorating in November and started listening to a Christmas playlist I have on my “ancient” iPod Nano.
December becomes hectic enough with family get-togethers and travel, and I’ve learned I enjoy the Christmas season much more if I begin early. This way I can savor, instead of feeling caught in a scramble.
.
• I’m enjoying twinkle lights and hot drinks.
.
• I’m sending a few Christmas cards. I’m not tying myself to an obligatory list. I’m simply writing out a few and tucking happy mail in the box. What gets sent, gets sent. No guilting myself.
.
• I’ve ordered gifts from small entrepreneurs and businesses, owned and run by family and friends. I’ve also happily ordered from small businesses in Haiti and Africa. These businesses support mamas and children who would not have a source of income otherwise. It’s super fun to support them!
{Other favorite shops of mine: Sew a Fine Seam……….Creative Carmella……….. Winterwood Tea Company………. Black Rifle Coffee Co………. Livvie + Hazel……….. The Mossy Tumbleweed…….. The Meadowlarke….. GraceLaced……..
.
• I’ve wrapped gifts and I love the shiny sparkle of them under the Christmas tree.
• I’ve had several giveaways here at A Delightful Glow. Though a giveaway doesn’t gift every single person, it does gift a few and I love that!
{this giveaway for a Surprise Children’s Christmas Book Bundle is still taking entries!}

.• I’m reading and handlettering through the book of Luke. I’m also reading The Advent of the Lamb of God by Russ Ramsey. I have Behold the Lamb of God cd by Andrew Peterson playing quietly through my room.
.
All these small things add happiness to this season for me!
.
It doesn’t mean my to-do list isn’t still very longish and always wanting completing. It doesn’t mean I am trial free, pain-free, and footloose! It doesn’t mean I’m thoroughly grateful and peaceful 24/7.

.
It does mean I’m pausing to pay attention to my choices. I’m finding the little details that are valuable to me. I’m choosing to do what I can, where I can, when I can, for who I can.
.
We all have different details, different elements or components adding to our lives in a meaningful way.
.
I’d love to hear your list for this Christmas season! What are you savoring? What’s bringing you a smile?

Some of our traditions have changed as our parents have passed but many we have kept. It’s hard to pick just one favorite! Even though our kids are 17 and 19 now they still love to read the Christmas story from the Bible before we open presents, helps everyone remember the true meaning of Christmas!
