The bell twinkles on the shop door,
As it swings open wide,
A sugar-sweet aroma,
Greets Maddie from inside
She loves The Flaky Pie Shop,
A pastry pie boutique,
Choosing all the Christmas pies,
The highlight of the week!
Maddie claps her hands with joy,
And presses ‘gainst the case,
Pies, pies, pies, lined up inside!
She smiles with happiness.
Which will you choose? Her mama asks.
And Maddie doesn’t know!
The Chocolate Cream? An Apple Tart?
Strawberry Pie to go?
Peanut butter, butterscotch,
Espresso Mocha Cream,
Blueberry pie, Blackberry too,
Is this a happy dream?!
Lemon Meringue a chillin’ out,
Double Cherry Crumb,
Is that Banana Pie I spy,
Right next to the Pecan?!
“What pie would Daddy like tonight?”
Maddie asks her mom.
“I think the Pear right over there.
Would make him smile bright!”
Which kind for Grandma? Grandpa too?
Key Lime or Buttermilk,
Perhaps a deep dish Apricot,
Or a French Chocolate Silk?
For Christmas Day and Christmas Eve,
Let’s try White Chocolate Dream,
And Butterscotch, Red Raspberry,
And one Old Fashioned Cream.
This one and that, and one of those,
We’ll have the Rhubarb too.
Into the boxes tied with string.
All packaged up for you!
A dozen handpies, make them peach,
With sugar crystals sweet,
And snowflake shapes upon the tops,
It’s Maddie’s favorite treat!
Back out the door with boxes stacked,
The bell bids them good-bye,
Into the car and head for home,
Maddie, Mama, PIE!!!

I can relate to Maddie. I LOVE pie too! One of the best parts of holidays (and my birthday).
Pie is fun and delicious……..and beautiful! 🙂
Now I really want pie!! It sounds like Maddie will have enough pies to last at least a whole week!! Good luck in the contest!
Thank you so much! 🙂 I like eating pie, making pie, looking at pies and pictures of pie!
