I put together these ribbon and flower bookmark/gift embellishments a few weeks ago.
I wanted to gift Never Unfriended to a couple of friends and I was trying to think how I wanted to “wrap” them.
I thought about simply wrapping ribbon around them like I did for a book gift shown in this post.
As I was thinking gift-y thoughts, I noticed the basket holding some paper flowers I’d made using my new Sizzix Big Shot Cutting/Embossing machine. It’s been super fun trying out some different ideas and creations with this cutter. The only downside has been not having OR taking enough time to play with it.
I have several different flower die cuts and it’s been fun to try different papers and shape combos. I’ve used some old song book pages along with cardstock. I also have wool felt to make adorable felt flowers! I also combined paper and felt pieces for a few flowers. And I used old buttons for my centers.
I have a lot of ideas I’d like to try!
Hmmmm. What could I do with the flowers and incorporate it into looking cute with a book?
A bookmark of some sort?! That could also double as a pretty touch for a gift…..that could be used or discarded or passed on if my friends didn’t want to keep them.
Yes! That might work. Ribbon!!! Always a go-to.
I placed my ribbon inside the book. Pulled it over the edge till it was hanging the length I wanted and chopped it off with my scissors. I attached my flower with my hot glue gun.
It was fun to mix and match flowers and ribbon. Then I cut the other end of my ribbon with an angle or a v.
You could use any flower or embellishment that you find at Hobby Lobby or make yourself on the ribbon. Very versatile!
My cupcake liner flowers would work as well.
Finally, I placed the markers inside the book in just the right place to center the flowers on the front cover just where I wanted! 🙂 details…details….
I love Lisa-Jo Baker’s definition for guilt-free friendship and I placed my bookmarker ribbons between the pages of the book talking about the description of guilt-free friendship and I highlighted that portion.
Done and done…..good to go….accomplir…..

So cute and fun! I LOVE making felt flowers with my new die cutter and wool felt. I used to shudder when I thought of making all my own felt flowers. But that was before I realized I could use a die cutter and hot glue!
I really want more time to mess with the die cutter!! And I want to try a flower wreath and a garland! I think I want some of those tiny wool balls for centers, though and I haven’t got that done. And somehow I don’t think things are going to slow down in the next couple of months………………..
