Ever feel like all the wise words and inspiration and good teaching and witty words and humor and encouragement has already been written? Sometimes I do. I read things sometimes and think it couldn’t be said any better.
I enjoy copying down and mulling over quotes that touch me and I often wish I could retain them in my head and quote them word for word. I can’t and I don’t. I can often think in general terms of a quote, but can’t pass it on word for word. With time, self-discipline, and memorization, I could better acquire this skill, but I don’t find it at the top of my most-important-things-in-life, I suppose!
Every so often I like recording a few of them here. You can find a previous list here.
I have some blogs I read now and then that will share some of their personal favorite products or books and I enjoy reading these kind of posts and getting ideas from other people.
Consequently, I enjoy writing a post like that now and then.
Here are a few things jotted in my journal over the last few months, that I especially like or enjoyed or wanted to remember.
There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage. ~Martin Luther
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
A good shoe is a shoe you don’t notice. The perfect church service would be one we were almost unaware of; our attention would have been on God. But every novelty prevents this. It fixes our attention on the service itself, and thinking about worship is a different thing from worshipping. ~ C.S. Lewis
I told on you to God today,
A mouthful’s what I had to say,
About the way you’ve treated me,
And in plain sight for all to see!
Don’t think you’ve gotten by with this,
I took Him quite a detailed list,
You can bet you’ll hear from Him,
He’ll get you back! So until then…
Expect a blessing…
True humility is more about thinking of yourself less, taking the focus off yourself-what you do or don’t have-and putting it on the needs of other people. The best way to nurture a spirit of humility and other-centeredness is to encourage a heart of giving.~from Smart Money Smart Kids by Dave Ramsey & Rachel Cruze
Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.
Offenses will come but you do not have to be offended.
If plain sense makes common sense, seek no other sense.
What I love about studying Scripture also drives me crazy. You can’t figure it all out, line it all up, or get it to respect your notions. ~Beth Moore
Giving is Living
Giving is living,” the angel said.
“Go feed the hungry, sweet charity’s bread.
“Must I keep giving and giving again?”
My selfish and querilous answer ran.
“Oh, no,” said the angel, his eyes pierced me through,
“Just give till the Master stops giving to you.”
