Happy October!
We’ve been utterly and completely blessed with GOING-ON-THREE-WEEKS of absolutely gorgeous autumn weather. There’s been little wind, cool nights, and seventy to eighty degree days. It’s warmed right up several afternoons, but if I’ve closed the house up it stays cool enough and then I throw the front door and windows back open as evening approaches.
I’ve been savoring it completely. It’s not at all unusual for Kansas to skip from hot to cold, spring and fall alike, completely skipping the just-right days I love so much.
I finished the felt hats! {Kit for them right here.} I was delighted with how they turned out. I held a teaparty for my nieces and the hats accompanied them home. There’s a bunch of pictures if you want to browse and booktalk below!
Little Mole’s Christmas Gift
Yes, it’s October. But I’m sharing this sweet children’s book a bit early because it will make a lovely addition to any children’s Christmas book collection. I received a copy for review from Beaming Books.
Little Mole’s Christmas Gift would be a delightful gift or fun to order and read during the Christmas season.
It carries a kind message of compassion and the deeper meaning of giving. It teaches a lesson of seeing a need and responding with the help we have to offer.
The illustrations make me smile. I adore the soft beauty of children’s picture books. Aren’t the mushrooms sweet?
I’ve been reading Half the Battle: Healing Your Hidden Hurts by Dr. Jon Chasteen. I received a copy to review and will be offering a giveaway for one soon.
I’m also still slowly reading through Sally Clarkson’s Awaking Wonder. I’m eagerly anticipating “attending” the online event, Hutchmoot Homebound this weekend. Sally Clarkson will be sharing a session at this event. While 2020 has not been what any of us would have chosen, Hutchmoot Homebound is one of the silver linings for me personally. I read about this conference several years ago and thought it sounded wonderful. I knew it was very doubtful I would ever get to attend. Factor in distance, cost, time, my general homebody-ness, plus the fact tickets usually disappeared at a very rapid rate of speed, the chances weren’t likely.
As 2020 has forced so many pivots, when Hutchmoot announced their virtual event, I instantly purchased a ticket.
I’d love to hear what’s been a silver lining for you in 2020?
If you need an activity for your weekend, Beth Moore has a crossword puzzle all from the book of Galatians right over here! I printed it out and I’m eager to catch some time to work on it.
Another project of mine was wrapping up gifts for my nieces and nephew. They’re welcoming home a new baby brother and I wanted to give them each something new and fun.
{Cupcake Liner Paper Flower Tutorial here}
The idea was originally to deliver gifts for them to open up while Dad and Mom and baby were in the hospital. I thought it would be fun if they could have the joy of anticipation over the wrapped gifts and it would offer a fun distraction during the time with mama away.
Baby surprised us with an early arrival and I hadn’t delivered the gifts yet. It will be fun all the same to take them each something fun and I’m quite sure they’ll be just as delighted!
Deborah… what a lovely surprise to see those gorgeous photos and the shout-out for Little Mole’s Christmas Gift! I am so grateful!
