I kneel down close to the freshly drilled dirt and I press the round shutter button of my IG photo app.
It captures the image of the field and as I gaze at the sun sinking behind our stretch of trees and our house, I wonder.
How often do I miss the wonder?
How often do I seek the large, the obvious, the big thing and maybe I’m missing the miracle after miracle held in my everyday moments.
That sinking sun shining a glorious sunset again. Over and over. Every evening. It holds steady. It obeys God’s time table for it.
That wheat seed in the ground? How in the world does it grow?! HOW does it know what to do?
The tomatoes that my tangle of tomato plants have produced. Definite miracle material there, because those plants have not been tended all that well or by all-that-professional of a gardener. {that’d be me} They have wanted for water and contended with weeds.
The bounce in the curls on my niece’s head and the bounce in her step and the cute little face I waved at as I rattled by their yard in our farm pickup.
The egg, sizzling up in the skillet, all buttery and brown ready to flop onto a sandwich for my farmer man.
The words my friend shared that she found at exactly the right time to encourage her heart and reiterate a promise she needs to cling to today.
Moments. Miracles. Magnificence.
My God definitely delights in the details of our lives.

“Lord, make me see the wonder You have enfolded in today. Please don’t let me miss the miracles.”
Steven Curtis Chapman has a song called The MIracle of the Moment. I really like it. There’s a line in it that says, “I don’t want you to miss the miracle of the moment.”
Praise God for all the wonder He has placed around us.
