We had a lot of gorgeous weather this week and I’ve just been drinking it in. For starters, there wasn’t much wind. LOVE THAT!!
We built a campfire one evening. It was just plain lovely. Chilly enough that the heat from the flames felt good, but not so cold that you wanted to huddle as close to the fire as possible. It was still and clear and the stars were brilliant.
R & T chose to sleep out under the brilliant stars another night last week. The sky was so, so pretty. They had a fine time until it rainshowered in the early morning and they gathered up their gear and moved into the basement.
Autumn’s splendor and color abound everywhere!
A couple of weeks ago, R & T, helped me do some rearranging in the upstairs. I am excited about it. I brought that big fan home back in the summer and I’d been wanting to put it up in the guest room. I worked on that and we moved some desks around. I have a lot of my craft stuff and gift packaging items and my Lilla Rose supplies in the guest room dresser and closet. I like working in there. I’ve had fun, slowly decorating the room and making it cheery and fun.
I organized the desk and redid the space to hopefully make it work better for writing and jotting notes and postcards and Β for blogging and crafting.
I invited some friends for hot drinks and pumpkin cheesecake. It promptly warmed up the day they were coming and hot drinks didn’t sound quite as appealing. I had a new sweater I was planning on wearing and I put it on when I dressed for the day. Mid-morning, I knew it was just too warm for this sweater, so I changed and left the sweater to be worn another day.
Despite the warmer temps, it was still quite a lovely day inside and out. The cheesecake and drinks were savored and consumed anyway, while we chit-chatted about all-things-pumpkin-spice, that are available this time of year! I’ve seen pumpkin spice Oreos, pumpkin spice m&m’s, cake mixes and frosting! Somehow the Oreos and m&m’s don’t appeal to me. Have you tried anything new in pumpkin spice flavor this fall?
The weather was so nice, we just gathered up school books and headed out onto the porch. Cooper couldn’t let Mary’s Little lamb get ahead of him. He didn’t follow his guy to school. He simply just came to school and climbed right up onto the swing. He looks quite studious.
Morty and That Kitty have become fast friends. Morty is thrilled whenever Kitty comes to play with him.
I managed to mend some towels and we cleaned some things and did all the normal rounds of laundry and dishes and food.
We had some dampish days, but it just wouldn’t let loose and rain. Matthew worked ground and did some more drilling.
My Drs. appointment was scheduled for last week. We motored off to the city with errands to get done before the appointment. My phone rang about an hour and a half before my appointment time. It was the Drs. office and Doctor had been called out for an emergency and they were cancelling my appointment. I was a bit disappointed, but looking on the bright side, we were thankful WE weren’t the emergency and if we have an emergency we certainly appreciate an available doctor. Also, on the up side, I didn’t have to cook and we had lunch out and were able to eat a Pumpkin Pie Concrete from Freddy’s! {Pumpkin again!}
And while I didn’t find out any more about my back, I did get some new socks that make me smile.
We heard “Thank God, I’m a Country Boy” playing in a store the other day. The unfortunate thing was, it was NOT John Denver singing it. It made you want to stop and sob in the aisle. John Denver can not be beat when it comes to “Thank God, I’m a Country Boy.”
I planted some spring bulbs and harvested some gourds. The gourds have been so fun. The plants are pretty and I love the festive fall look the pumpkins and gourds give.
M & R & T redid our fire ring. I was going to snap some pictures and never got it done. Perhaps this week. M’s brother and family came over Sunday evening and brought soft pretzel dough. We rolled and baked pretzels and built a fire in the revamped fire pit. It was another beautiful evening, although it got up to 90 degrees yesterday! very typical Kansas. π Kansas likes to skip quickly over seasons like spring and fall and just go straight on to summer or winter. No, I shouldn’t complain. We have had a lot of lovely days this fall.
An inspiration struck me this past week. I looked around at our messy home and I thought, “Well, perhaps if someone stops in, I could casually and lightly tell them, I’m just being a Mary instead of a Martha!” π

We have a Morty at our house, too, but he isn’t nearly as cute as yours. Our Morty mixed up a lot of mortar when the brick was being laid. ? Your guest room looks lovely. Love all your pics of fall.
I may be prejudiced, but I’m pretty sure my Morty is the cutest Morty ever!!!!
