My farmer planting corn.
Resident Roadrunner.
He was standing at the end of the sidewalk when I pulled in on my return from a trip to the field. He stood there at attention, with his tail in the air. But, until I got my camera picked up, he had run off the sidewalk. I still captured a few photos, but I wished I hadn’t missed him cheekily posed at the end of the sidewalk, as if he were leaving from an afternoon of visiting.
Cows in our pasture again ~ the seasons go and then they roll around again…

Full week.
Matthew’s dad had surgery. The surgery went well, and I think overall he is doing pretty well. He has had some trouble with pain meds not really cutting the pain. They’ve switched up his pain meds a couple of times. Some of it was helping, but then it seemed like it was affecting him and he had a rough night with little sleep and confused talking etc. They switched it up again and he should come home today. We thought he’d already be home by now, so it has drug out for them.
We went over to visit them Wednesday afternoon and evening. We had a few stops to make in the city and then ate sandwiches at the hospital with them and with J&E and our baby niece from eastern Kansas. We’re always glad to have a chance to see them for a bit.
Thursday found me and my kiddos taking an impromptu, last-minute-decision outing. On our way home from the hospital we saw signs for citywide garage sales starting the next day. So, we got up and headed back to hit garage sales. We had a lot of fun! The first garage sale we went to, Tucker found a bucket of Legos!! Our day was made already. That’s the first time I’ve ever found Legos at a garage sale. We ended up with several fun finds. Pretty sure we didn’t necessarily “need” anything, but we had fun!! We ate a later lunch at Chick-Fil-A and then soon headed home. Back home for a bit, and then heading off to clean the doctor’s office for the week!
Matthew has been on the go and busy. Time for spring farmwork! We got our corn planted along with various other farm jobs.
We attended a beautiful wedding reception! The cake was so awesome. It was on a cake stand made out of a tallish tree stump and had a heart with the bride & groom’s name carved into it. I don’t have any pictures of it, but if you go on Pinterest and search tree stump cake stands, you’ll find all kinds of cute ideas!
We cleaned up house & garage for a video group that we’ve been meeting with and hosting now and then. The group had a carry in dinner this week and we made ice cream for it.
Last Sunday we took J&M and their baby girls and went to see Big Brutus. J&E met us there and it was a fun day! Pictures coming soon.
I mopped kitchen floor. I tweeted that “Clean kitchen floors just don’t stand any chance, WHATSOEVER!!” 🙂
Go over here and take a look at the vintage plaid cold packs my sister found in my Grandma’s stuff. They’re a fun find!
Renae went to a youth group gathering. We’re still working on some schoolwork. Friday was a crazy day. Phone calls, phone tag, pedicure appointments for R&I, stopping by to see our girlies and borrow ice cream freezer motor, mailing mini pillows off, sweeping to do, stuff to put away, pickup and lunch delivered to field,
Ripstick Riding.
Beautiful spring sunshine.
Friends stopped by a bit one evening.
My back hurting a couple of days and my arm has been sore for some reason.
Cleaning our shower on my to-do list and giving it a quick scrub down, but never getting the complete cleaning I was planning.
Back over to the hospital on Sunday evening. My aunt and uncle rode along. M’s dad looked better and sounded much better than he did on Wed. evening. We tried a new eating place on the way home. Popeye’s Chicken. It was tasty!

Sounds like you guys had a very busy week! Did the roadrunner say, “meemp meemp”?
It did turn out rather busy, but there was quite a bit of fun stuff mixed in!
The roadrunner did not beep at me, but that would’ve been great! Hard to beat Wile E. and RoadRunner!
I love your farm life. Looks like a lot of land for planting corn. And yes, I have made risotto and love it! I have read the book True Woman 101 but not this part 2. But the giveaway is already ended. Thanks for sharing with us at the Home Matters #homematters linky party. We love having you and hope you join us again.
I am very grateful for many, many aspects of our farm life.
I enjoyed making the risotto!!
I’ve started the True Woman 201 book and I’m really liking it. I really liked 101, too.
