We’re kicking off the So Close to Amazing Blog Tour!
It’s a tour full of So Close to Amazing Stories and Book Reviews. And there are twelve other bloggers co-hosting!
{August 21 – September 16}
I’ve chatted a few times this summer about Karianne Wood’s soon-to-be-released book, So Close to Amazing. It’s one of my favorite reads so far this year! It gives opportunity to laugh at ourselves and to sympathize with our friends and know we aren’t alone when the dirty dishes crash all around us or we take a pot roast to garden club. {Or the equivalent of these things, but with our own personal details.} {Yep. You gotta read the book to find out more about crashing dishes and “The Roast That Went To Garden Club”.} 🙂
As life does and is and will be, there are days and projects and parties that turn out AMAZING. They really do. Things seamlessly fall in place. Details pull together at the last minute. Everything syncs at precisely the right time. Amazing moments make us happy and feel good.
And in the honesty and reality and imperfectness that is also life, sometimes, SOMETIMES, our moments and masterpieces and magnificent affairs end up not quite hitting the mark of amazing and instead land #soclosetoamazing.
One #soclosetoamazing moment of mine??? That I’ve repeated and repeated so many times. It goes like this. We’ll invite friends or family to join us for a meal and be our guests. I totally like to serve coffee or other hot drink choices with dessert to the coffee lovers. AND most avid coffee drinkers thoroughly enjoy a cup of coffee with their sweet dessert. WITH IT. Key words here. Again and again, I am #SOCLOSETOAMAZING. I want to serve the coffee with the cake. I really do. I mean to. BUT. Way too often, I FORGET. I forget until the dessert is half-gone or all-the-way-gone or completely-done-and-over gone. There are meals when I DO remember and it is amazing and coffee lovers can sip a lovely cup of dark coffee with their pie or cake or pudding. The rest of the times? SO CLOSE.
{You can read #soclosetoamazing moments in these two blogposts of mine ~ Ten Handy Helpful Housewife Hints and Ten More Handy Helpful Housewife Hints.}

You can totally pre-order it AND there are bonuses if you do! Order it by September 4, 2017 and submit your info here to receive your bonuses.

I had a recent #soclosetoamazing moment. I hopped {well, we’ll use “hopped” rather loosely, since I was and am still favoring the ankle I sprained recently. Yeah. Another #soclosetoamazing moment. I have too many to keep track of.} I hopped into the pickup to ride along with my Mr. Matthew Man. He was headed off to make his rounds checking oil wells. At our second stop, I whipped out my phone and clicked a couple of photos. I have trouble seeing my phone screen in the sunlight sometimes and can’t tell how light the picture is. I usually have my sunglasses on and they tend to further darken the picture. Pulling my phone back in the pickup cab and desiring a better look at the picture, I whipped off the glasses I was wearing. “Huh,” I thought to myself, “I didn’t realize the picture I’d taken was that blurry.” Then it dawned on me. It wasn’t my sunglasses I was wearing and had removed. It was my REGULAR glasses. I wasn’t wearing my contacts today and thus, not my sunglasses either!!! No wonder the picture became decidedly blurrier. When one requires corrective lenses to see clearly at all, and one removes said corrective lenses, well things tend to become blurry and unclear. QUITE.

Hey Deborah, those ‘so close to amazing’ moments really happen all the time don’t they!? Only now, with it all in perspective, will I stop and savor them, smile and enjoy. So glad to be on this journey with you to offer a soft landing space for our readers in an otherwise crazy world.
Many hugs, Lynn
I love your description of a soft landing place.
Yes! I’ve loved describing moments as #soclosetoamazing. Absolutely the best description!! It flips the perspective from discouraged or disgruntled to a laugh-out-loud moment.
Have a wonderful week!
You are hilarious. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked for my sunglasses—and they are on my head. 🙂 Thank you SO much for the wonderful post!
Happy day rock star!
karianne
Have a super amazing week, KariAnne! The blog tour is so much fun!
This is sooo funny and happens to me on a daily basis! laura
🙂 🙂 I’ve loved labeling things as #soclosetoamazing! Just the best term!!
Deborah – it has been such a joy being a part of this blog tour with you! I love your photography and those pics of KariAnne’s Amazing book took my breath away!
Oh, thank-you so much! I love photography and amazing books! 🙂
The blog tour is lots of fun! Very amazing and full of inspiration, beautiful blogs and good laughs!
That is a funny #soclosetoamazing story, I can relate as I wear contacts and “readers” and then when I’m home at night I put my glasses on. Sometimes I’ll take my glasses off thinking they’re my readers and then I can’t see anything at all LOL. Oh brother, I’m glad we can all laugh at our little mess ups! It’s so nice being on KariAnne’s book launch team with you. I hope you have a wonderful week!!!
Thank-you so much! The launch team and the blog tour have been amazing! They’ve definitely added happy to my summer. 🙂
I totally enjoyed reading about your SCTA moments. I’m right there with you, having them every day or more. (I like this term so much better than Senior Moment, when age is blamed for the so close times.)
Keep Smiling…
SCTA is definitely a much more fun term!! And hey, it definitely gives us reasons to smile and laugh! 🙂
I think we have all had a #Soclosetoamazing encounter with our glasses or not. For me it is all about the fact that I am leaving them behind and not being able to find them. But one thing is for sure, KariAnne is much more than so close.
Yes indeed! 🙂 This blog tour is so much fun! Amazing!
Deborah,
What a great story and a great story teller… YOU! Will we ever look at those near misses in our lives the same way after reading So Close to Amazing? This summer has been so uplifting for me as I read the Facebook Group page and all the SCtA stories and book reviews. Thanks for being part of the journey and joining the linky party.
Judith
Thank-you for your super kind words, Judith!
No, we won’t ever look at our near misses the same. I’ve had so much fun labeling things as #soclosetoamazing. It makes me see the humor in them so much better.
The launch team and this book and this blog tour have all added a lot of happy to my summer, too!
This has been such a fun journey to share with you and KariAnne!
