A few more things I wanted to post from our Christmas memories for 2014…
First post over here…
As Renae was leaving her mother’s helper job one week in December, the mama she helps, gave her a homemade Oreo Truffle to try. She thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it sounded fun to make them.
So, on Christmas Eve afternoon she whipped up a batch.
They were good. And I thought she did a great job making them. I helped dip them for a little, but she was doing a much better job then I was, so I left it to her and sprinkled Oreo crumbs on the tops of the dipped truffles.
Tucker did a few and then decided to watch and to pick up my camera and take a few photos.
He was running out of chocolate and the last truffle he did wasn’t covered real well. I tried to fix it and add more chocolate to it. I didn’t improve it any. It was lumpy and funny looking. Tucker had a great time passing it off on me and laughing about the lovely truffle I dipped and what a good job I did.
{Oh, and it is quite brilliant to set your truffles and dipping stuff on top of your freshly washed baking mats from rolling out butterhorns, like we did! 😉 } {And I don’t know what the teakettle is doing.} {Just details in the picture I noticed and was laughing about.}
Christmas gift from auntie and uncle and a half-eaten butterhorn~
We attended a Christmas Eve service at a local church and then came home and watched The Very First Noel. We got this dvd when our kiddos were younger and we just love it. It’s animated, has rhyming dialogue, is narrated by Andy Griffith, and is just so sweet. It brings tear to my eyes every time. The message is worded so simply, so sweetly, so profoundly.
We love the music and the humor woven throughout the story, yet the poignancy that underlies it all.
Food and Snacks ~
Chocolate
Hersheys with Almonds
Symphony Bar {I love Symphonys~the blue one with toffee bits and almond pieces}
Chicken Nachos
Oreo Truffles
It was a peaceful and relaxing evening and a blessed time spent with those I love.
We stayed up rather lateish….and then trundled off to bed…..
