Ever since I became a wife and homemaker in 1997, and set up housekeeping in our first cozy, rental home, I’ve enjoy burning candles.
Well, even before that I liked it. My sis and I shared a room and we had candle holders and would burn candles in the evenings, while we read our books, and many nights, stayed up too late! The fun of being a teenager! Late nights catch up very quickly with me at this stage of my life.
Candles are so cozy and they make my house smell good. I like to burn them best of all, in the winter, during the long evenings, when it gets dark early.
Something about a candle flickering sets a mood and seems homey to me.
Fall scents are among my favorite scents of candles, but I love to burn them at Christmastime, too.
Let me interrupt here, since it’s the shopping weekend of the year, and share the details on the graphic below for the sale going on at Jewelry in Candles today. Then, I will continue my discourse on candles for your reading pleasure.

Continuing my chatter……..
Several of my friends like and/or love candles too. {This seems to be a common denominator among many women, although that doesn’t mean every single woman gets into burning candles. 😉 }
Having friends that also like candles, means I’ve often gifted candles. I’m always happy to get one as a gift and they make a nice gift since they are consumable. So whether you are a hoarder or a minimalist, it works!
As a minimalist , burn it up, move on, be done!
As a hoarder, do one of two things.
A. Save the candle and don’t burn it.
B. Burn the candle up and then save the jar it was in.
Earlier this year, I became a rep for Jewelry in Candles. I thought they were a great fit for my website, here at A Delightful Glow, and I loved the candles! {And look how long it has taken me to post solely about the candles! Augghhh! 🙂 I’ve mentioned them in posts, but haven’t taken time to post this.}
This fall I’ve been burning a Pecan Pie candle and Pumpkin Souffle. They both smell good enough to eat.
In the summer, I enjoyed burning a Meadow candle and a Strawberry candle. The strawberry scent is one of my very favorites! Plus, I’ve always loved the color red.
When I first tried JIC, I tried out the wax tarts for my warmers and was really impressed with them. Then I tried the Strawberry Candle and loved how it smelled and how well it burnt. I’ve had candles that have given me headaches, either because of scent or ingredient, but my JIC candles haven’t done that. Love it about them!
Some of my candle history ~
Partylite votives have long been among my favorite candles, although I haven’t had any to burn for a really long time! When I made a Christmas list for my Mother, I told her I’d be thrilled to have some Partylite tealights and/or votives again.
My cousin gave me a Lemon-Lavender candle by Yankee during the midst of my back trouble stuff in May and June. She told me it was a favorite of hers and it quickly became a favorite of mine.
Jar candles have always been a favorite for a couple of reasons. They have a lot of hours of burn time and they seem safer than pillar candles and they don’t have the potential to make a wax mess, like tapers or pillars can.
Oh, and as far as Jewelry in Candles, they have an interesting twist! They all have jewelry hidden inside them. Even the wax tarts! When you order, you can choose a necklace, ear rings, or a ring, ranging from size 6 to size 9.
I don’t wear a lot of jewelry and that part of the candles wasn’t a great, big drawing to me personally. BUT, it is fun to burn the candle down till the jewelry package appears and then pull it out, open it up, and see what surprise is revealed!! There’s just something about finding a hidden surprise!
The jewelry is wrapped in foil and placed inside a small plastic bag and then placed in each jar and then the jar is filled with wax to become a candle with a fun surprise in it!
Renae has had fun finding the necklaces in ours. One of them was two dolphins!! Totally fitting for her!
In the event that you are looking for a fun gift idea for a candle love in your life, I’d be thrilled for you to check out my JIC site and would love to share my excitement about these candles with you!
Have a terrific weekend!

Love all the yummy scents we have!
Good! I’m glad! I’m getting ready to start burning Merry Mistletoe!
