Hello Monday!
We had a busy week last week.
It kind of ran together and I did pick up my camera a few times, but not as often as some weeks. And it seems that when we’re busier, I tend to forget more of what all we did do!
The schools were on spring break this week. We didn’t technically take spring break. We did most of our schoolwork for the week, but also had a little break. Tucker and Renae both had friends, who were on spring break, that they wanted to get together with.
The beginning of the week, Tucker had a friend come and stay overnight.
You know Jeff Foxworthy? Well, you might be a redneck if you have an old topper from a pickup in your backyard. That’d be us.
There was one left here and my man and kiddos recently fixed it up as a shelter for our cats and for Cooper, during the day. Tucker and his friend/cousin came up with the bright idea that they wanted to spend the night in it. So, I said “Why not?” I’m sure from a kid’s view, it was a very exciting idea and adventure. From this mama’s view-“You would have had to pay me a LOT to sleep in a topper that has been housing pets!”
So they found sleeping bags and pillows and blankets. They packed up some snacks and rounded up several flashlights and off they went! {After a few questions from an overly protective mother and a prediction from the same mother that they wouldn’t stay out there all night.}{I think my son took this as a challenge. 🙂 }{It wasn’t terribly cold, but chilly enough.}
We didn’t hear anything out of them and they stayed out there all night and straggled in the next morning. They said they slept pretty good, woke up a few times, got a little cold… I really was glad they enjoyed it. {I enjoyed my comfy bed.} Adventures with a friends are a great part of childhood!
Later in the week, Renae had a friend come overnight and Tucker ended up going and staying at another friend’s. It was fun, but it does make for a busier week and for sleep that needs caught up on!
Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it’s off to work we go! Matthew had a busy week and started a new venture for us. He’s going to be working for another farmer part-time, checking several irrigation systems and helping do some farmwork plus farming a few acres. It felt a little strange for him to pack a lunch and be heading off to work for someone else. I’ve gotten really used to our farm and what we do and it’s just us. Technically, we do work for others since we aren’t land owners and sharecrop or cash rent our farmground, but it is still on our own schedule. Yet, I also know the days of the small farmer are numbered. We feel like God opened a door and we’ll work on trusting and see where else He leads. I look back over the years and see so many ways He has provided and cared for us. Much of the time it hasn’t looked like we would have chosen or turned out like we might have picked, but He has certainly been there. We’ve had some stresses for the last few years that we’ve tossed around, discussed and prayed about. Stepping into this new job may be one answer, for now, to some of these.
Hello to a winner for the Spring Fling Giveaway! Everything all ready to tuck into a Priority Mail box and send it on its way!
Hello to loading up a load of hay! Our weather forecast was calling for snow, so my farmer wanted to get the hay loaded while it was still dry. Good thing he got it done! It started snowing Saturday night and the ground was white Sunday morning. It isn’t hanging around long. It started melting off quickly!
Hello pretty candle! Saturday was gray all day and it kept getting colder. It made a cozy day to tuck inside and light a candle.
A few other hello moments from our week….the ones I remember….
Making sourdough bread…riding bikes-the beginning of the week we had a couple of nice days…eating snacks on the roof of one the outbuildings to escape the cats-{can you guess which members of our family did this?}…picking up gift items for a gift basket for my friend’s wedding…chilly temps…still messing around with contacts and trying to find a kind I like…friends from Ohio here for a couple of nights and to attend the wedding…doctor’s appointment for the pressure I keep having in my ears…a movie night…trying out chocolate/brownie cake…floors that desperately needed swept{dragging in blankets from a topper full of straw may or may not have played a part in this}…learning from the life of David…hot drinks…impromptu meals…sleeping in on Saturday…
Share one of your favorite hello moments from your week last week!

Cataloging what we do for a week makes it sound so BUSY! I need to get busy working so I can mark off stuff on my to-do list for this week – it’s crazy!

Sometimes it is good to list what all you have done. Especially when you feel like you aren’t accomplishing anything. There are lots of mundane things that take time, but somehow they don’t get counted when I’m thinking of what I’ve done for the day.
I loved hearing about your week!! I loved the picture of the candle, bible, and cross on your dresser. That was beautiful!
I dropped in from Nan’s Making Your Home Sing Monday.

I liked that picture too. I feel like it’s hard to capture the image in a picture like I really want to. I really loved the way the candle looked-it was a gray day and the lighting in my living room was low and cozy.
I’ve enjoyed writing about our weeks. It makes good memories and records!
Thanks for coming by!
I tried to leave you a comment over on your blog and it just says invalid security token. Not sure what I need to do differently!
Always enjoy seeing what your week was like. Those boys probably wouldn’t want to hear this, but they are so CUTE!! Sleeping in a topper/animal home wouldn’t be my choice at all, but I can so see them liking it. Your give away looks so fun to dig through. Prayers for your man as he assumes new responibilites. Those are some big hay bales! Looking forward to hearing more about the wedding.
I thought they were pretty cute myself! And they certainly made me think about things I enjoyed doing as a kid and thought were so exciting.
I’m sure those boys really enjoyed sleeping outside. I probably would have said no because I’m a big party pooper like that. I really need to work on saying yes more.

My first reaction was to say no, I’ll admit. I was thinking of all the mess and picturing them coming back in after about 20 minutes! 🙂
I did have Tucker help wash up the blankets and sleeping bags. So, he got to learn a little more about laundry along with the adventure! They did have fun and I know the days are speeding by.
I feel like I probably say no to much too. It’s such a juggling act. Letting them be kids, but teaching them something and also learning they can’t always do everything, yet not just saying no out of my own selfishness. I certainly don’t have it figured out!!
Wow, I love the picture of those bales of hay! How fun! Of course, I know it was a lot of work but I still have a little kid in me, lol!
I used to sleep outside a lot when I was a kid. It was a safer time back then and we would sleep under a tree which was right near the sidewalk. I remember hearing people walk up and down the sidewalk in the morning while I was trying to sleep, lol!
Looks like you had a lovely time this week! Thanks so much for linking up to “Making Your Home Sing Monday” today! 🙂

I like taking pictures of hay. I think hay bales are so pretty. I’ll comment about how pretty a field is that is dotted with hay bales and my husband always says, “Looks like a lot of work.” I don’t have to pick them all up and line them up, so I just enjoy looking!
There is much to be said for the “good ole days”! 🙂 There are many things I appreciate about today, but I do miss some of the slower, safer things from another time.
