I’ve been asked about what pens and markers I like and/or use for handlettering, so I decided it would make a wonderful Ten on Tuesday topic to talk about. Besides, I’m kind of a pen junkie/fanatic. I love to walk up and down the aisle of an office store and look at all the pens and pencils and markers. If you have the same compulsion, then you totally relate. If you don’t, that’s fine, but I can’t explain it to you. You’re still welcome to read this post!!! I just can’t explain the draw a good pen has, so you’ll just have to trust me on this OR shake your head and shrug your shoulders! 😉
And I love this mix in this photo! A pretty notebook, pens and markers, washi and stickers and a lovely, little zippered tote! A friend gifted me with the bag, oh, maybe a year ago and I have used it for a collection of pens and markers and kept them with my Bible study stuff. {I think the bag is from Dayspring.}
See that cute little boy and girl? They are hand drawn by my niece and she’s had them made into stickers!!! Aren’t they adorable?! She recently launched an Etsy shop and she’d love for you to pop over and browse around if you’d like! The sushi stickers in some of my other pictures are from her as well.
In no particular order……………
Bring on the pens and pencils and markers!
No. 1…….. I love my Zig Calligraphy markers.
I have a metallic set and a set of primary colors.
They are double-tipped, which is the-next-best-thing-since-sliced-bread, naturally. 😉 I do love that they have a broader end and a smaller tip.
I’ve seen a couple of GReaT BiG sets of Zig markers that look really, really fun to have! 😉
No. 2…….. This Micron set of markers are a fine line set varying from .20mm to .50mm. They are great for calligraphy practice or addressing envelopes.
No. 3…… Prismacolor markers……I’ve had this set of markers for half of forever……..ok………..not really……..but it seems like it!!! I purchased them years ago from Timberdoodle along with other homeschool curriculum and books for the year. BUT, I purchased them for me, not my scholars! Ha! 🙂 And I will admit, I guarded them carefully and selfishly from my little people. They used Prismacolor colored pencils, but I decided Crayola markers were good enough for their ages at the time. 🙂
I’ve long loved my set of Prismacolor markers! They are double-tipped too, with a fine end and a broad end.
No. 4………….. Prismacolor Colored Pencils
We were never fond of colored pencils until we found Prismacolor! They are the bomb! We ridded our home of all other colored pencils and haven’t looked back. They aren’t cheap, but they’re worth it! My kiddos used them so much for school and coloring projects. I have some I use with my favorite coloring books.
No. 5 and 6…….. Pens and Highlighters from The Daily Grace Co!
I love these so much! They definitely are high on my list of favorites.
I don’t know how to explain the highlighter exactly. They are somewhat of a solid gel and they don’t bleed through your page. They’re awesome-possum and I love all the colors and the good word reminders on each one of who we are in Christ. I like to keep a few of these pens and highlighters around to use as gifts.
You can shop their pens and highlighters right here.
If you are seriously interested in purchasing pens from The Daily Grace Co, keep an eye out………they run sales pretty often and generally offer free shipping with $60 orders. Oh, and they have Bible studies and journals and beautiful mugs along with their really awesome pens!
There’s a new set of pens at the Daily Grace Co. right here that I think look really fun!
No. 7……. I’ve had this set of Tombow markers for a long time. They are double tipped liked the Zig markers and the Prismacolor markers. Isn’t that just the smartest thing?! {Like the aforementioned sliced bread}{ahem} One end is a fine tip and one end is a long, brushy type of tip. {I should have taken pictures of the ends with the caps off……maybe I’ll update it later….}
No. 8……… Bic Markers
I picked this set up on a whim several years and totally fell for them! They say ultra fine point on them. I’ve loved them for lettering, used them in my Bible, and again, for addressing envelopes and cards!
No. 9……… Fineliner Color Pen
This simple set are fine points and I’ve used them a good bit in my Handlettering for Relaxation book.
No. 10……. These Uniball markers I ordered from Amazon last year and promptly fell in love with them. Especially with the gold one!
They’re a gel pen and I very much like the look of the lettering when using these. I haven’t used the white one much and I forget that I have it, but it would be perfect for black paper and envelopes.
THERE!That’s a list of some of my favorites! Tell me what yours are………
If you like reading and books and pens and journals, you might enjoy popping over to the Modern Mrs. Darcy’s shop and checking out her accessory set. It includes a tin of book darts and a variety of her favorite pens!

I have so many colored pencils,markers,gel pens,etc. Coloring is my hobby/,obsession/addiction. Lol! I probably have 100 color books. I got into coloring grayscale so I have quite a few of those color books also. I’m embarrassed how many coloring mediums I have. I understand what you mean. I love looking on Amazon with all the fun goodies.I have a big wish list. Great post ☺
How fun! What a neat collection! I’d love to see all your coloring books. I have several and I think they are fun. I think I counted ten the other day because I thought they might make a fun Ten on Tuesday post! 🙂 Do you have a very favorite brand of pen or markers? Or do you use certain ones for certain things?
The cheap Bic pens totally annoy me! Ha! I really am a snob about a good pen! But a nice pen makes a huge difference in how nice my handwriting looks. 🙂
I love my Marco Raffine Pencils and my Prismacolor Pencils when I’m blending. Also they work great when I’m coloring my grayscale color book. I have to many to even take pictures of. Loo! I’m addicted to my Gelly Roll Pens. They aren’t cheap so I wait for them to go on sale.I love my Staedtler Triplus Fineliners for details. They are great for those tiny places. My daughter is 32 and she is a pen & color book addict too. I created a monster, she’s worse than I am. Lol! She doesn’t like using pencils like I do though. We even use Sharpies. They come in so many pretty colors. My granddaughter is almost 4 and she likes to color too. One day I will pull out all my books and take pictures to show you. I know once I do that I’m going to think oh my goodness I have a problem. Lol! I love trying different mediums.I haven’t bought any in a few months so I’m happy about that. I go through gel pens fast so I replace those every few months. I’ve also won about 30 color books, 2 24 packs of Prismacolor pencils and recently stix markers. Giveaways are my addiction also. It keeps me busy. I enjoy entering yours. I like your reviews too. I’m always happy to see a blogger who is a Christian because I know you will have some faith based giveaways. I hope you have a blessed day ☺
How fun that you have a hobby you and your daughter and granddaughter all love!
How super fun that you’ve won giveaways for coloring books, pencils and markers! I’ve entered some, but haven’t won so far! I enjoy giveaways too! Both entering them and offering them here on my blog.
I would love to see pics of your coloring books and I’m going to check out some of the pen brands you mentioned. Thanks!!
I like Sharpies too and they do have lots of fun colors!
