“Dream Big” my Rae Dunn mug tells me as I wrap my fingers around its warmth on this April morning. 23 degrees the thermometer says. The morning sky beckons me to tiptoe onto the porch and capture it as I can.
The #SimplyTuesday coloring book, laying open on my coffee table reminds me of this message, “We miss the living because we forget the moments.”
Dream big. Capture small moments. Do they work together?
I find myself laughing as I think about Agnes in Despicable Me 3. Agnes loves unicorns. Agnes wants a real live unicorn and heads off with a bucket of candy to capture one. Lo and behold, Agnes comes home with her unicorn! Except. To everyone else, it is a one-horned baby goat. And I laugh every time I picture Gru as he states, “Sometimes you want a unicorn and you get a goat.” His tone and the feeling. Uh-huh. I know. We’ve all been there.
But here’s the thing. In Agnes’ eyes, her goat was a dream come true! She didn’t see a goat. She saw a unicorn! And she loves him. {and cutest goat ever, by the way. animation and all.} 🙂
Perspective.
Small things added up, often become the big things. Making moments matter becomes a life that matters and becomes your dreaming big.
I think about this quote too, that I read in my planner yesterday….
“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy. They are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” ~ Marcel Proust
Indeed! Moments and people and happiness and gratitude and blossoms and possessing the gift to see a unicorn where most people see a goat.
Agnes is my favorite in all the Despicable movies. She knows how to love well and splash enthusiasm across life. And her innocent exuberance and great, big eyes are the kind of moments in this living we don’t want to miss.
So, I’m going to keep dreaming and keep leaning into this gift of living and keep an eye out…for you just never know when what you thought was a goat might be the unicorn you were after!
Blessed day, dear friends!
