This week finds me focusing on these three books.
I just recently acquired Flash and I LOVE IT! It is a relaxing read. It is gentle. It is entertaining and then Rachel Ann Ridges pulls a life lesson out of each story and chapter and pretty much nails it. She blogs over here at Home Sanctuary.
I start several books at a time and some of them I really like, but they take more thinking and it takes me a while to read through them. I pick them up and read a small portion and ponder. I’m not sure why sometimes! I feel like I forget as quickly as turning to the next page! 😉 Not altogether true! No, I don’t remember and retain and reiterate even close to what I would like to, but I do have things that really stand out and remain.
ANYWAY. All that ramble to simply say that for me, Flash has been a book that is restful and I’ve been reading through it in…well, a FLASH!!! {Sorry. Couldn’t resist.}
At the end of each chapter, Rachel Ann Ridges sums up a couple of simple life lessons that her life circumstances and Flash have taught her.
For example, Chapter 3 is called the Arctic Blast and she talks about an ice storm they had in Texas and how they found Flash, not INSIDE his cozy barn, but outside covered in ice.
The two takeaways at the end of this chapter are:
Know where to find refuge.
True sanctuary is in God alone.
I read some pages in Understanding Exposure and figured out a couple more settings to try messing and playing with on my camera.
And then, Rising Strong. This book is an interesting and relatable read. I highly doubt there’s a person on this planet who hasn’t failed, fallen or floundered many more times than they’d choose. In Rising Strong, Brene Brown deals with the process of standing back up, of rising, after we fall. Not when. After. We all deal with worries and fears and rejection and shame and hurt. But we must rise again, every time and go on.
The name of this book always fascinated me. Tawny and scrawny aren’t words you here just everyday.
My grandma had this book and I remember clambering up on the couch and settling in to listen to the tale of the poor hungry lion and feeling sorry for him, but not wanting him to hurt the other animals. And the soup always sounded SO GOOD!!!
Look at these just-plain-adorable Little Goldens stickers I found. I found them at World Market. They were too sweet to leave there.
Because…..Pokey and the Shy Little Kitten and Tootle and Scuffy and Tawny and Saggy Baggy Elephant!
It’s been cold the last few days. C.O.L.D. Brrr.
I’m quite content to stay cozied inside, though we have been out and about a few times.
I finished these two dishcloths and started on a pretty pink. Thinking about Valentine’s Day!
I’m also really excited about these bamboo knitting needles that I picked up at Micheals. They work easier for me than my other needled. Hooray!
I started on this project and jumped into learning to knit using the Magic Loop Method. What did people do before You Tube to instruct and guide???
Obviously, many people are beyond my skill set and comprehension. I will be doing well to manage along with the help of You tube and someone, at sometime, had the ability to figure this all out and come up with it and write patterns! Fist bump TO THEM! I’m impressed.
I started. Which is good. But then I have been doing other things and when I did pick up knitting, I picked up the discloths, because….EASY.
I will admit that I do not have a lot of confidence in this project turning out in a pretty way, but it’s fun to try and I keep reminding myself about how awkward it felt to knit my first dishcloth.
I’m still working on some change-ups around here and I’m excited to have an updated look and a more mobile friendly site. Still some tweaks and changes that need done and tech support to message. My home page is wonky and I don’t know why.
Happy yarning to you today!

Love all your pictures! And those stickers are amazing…I may need to make a trip to World Market.
Your dish cloths are lovely. I made several over the holidays and they are shaping up to be my favorite rags. More are sure to come.
Visiting from Ginny’s Yarn Along.
Blessings on your week,
Kelli
World Market is so fun….
If you need bamboo clothespins, I found some there that I love. I hang laundry out in the summer and I also want to use some to make some wooden snowflakes.
These dishcloths have been my favorite for years. My Grandma always had a stash and would give them to us.
I love that last dishcloth color.
And, yes, YouTube! Learned some good things there

Thank-you! So sweet of you to offer!
Oh – those stickers!!!!! I couldn’t have left them either 🙂 Your knitting is lovely and I agree – bamboo needles feel nice in the hands. Have a wonderful day 🙂
Thanks for sharing my sticker love! 😊
I wouldn’t mind getting a couple more sets of bamboo needles. They are wonderful!
I’m knitting new washcloths, too! 🙂
Fist bump!! 😊
