It’s the halfway-through-the-week day! And it’s Yarn Along.
Linking up with Ginny and Frontier Dreams.

Above is the finished dishcloth I was working on last week out of the scrubbie type yarn. I started using it and I like it really well for a scrubbie. It is great for wiping out non-stick pans and scrubbing down the sink.
I like my cotton dishcloths better for wiping down counters and my table. The scratchy one definitely works better as a scrubbie. It doesn’t wring out for wiping down surfaces. It’s not dripping wet or anything, but when you wipe something off, the counter is very wet when you finish.
Look at this new yarn I picked up at Hobby Lobby! I’m all swoony about it. Absolutely love the colors in it and it has a fun texture and feel. I have a new knitting project book ~coming further down in this post ~ and it has some patterns for some mason jar cozies. I think I’m going to try one out of this yarn.
Kids’ picks for the week!

~Practically Perfect in Every way~
One of my long-time absolute favorites!
I love the books and I love the movie.
I love her practical briskness and no-nonsense manner, while all the time lurking underneath is a bent for laughter and fun and spoonfuls of sugar and lessons in goodwill.
My daughter and I, along with some friends, attended a theater production of Mary Poppins over the weekend.
It was absolutely so much fun and very, very well done! I enjoyed every bit of it thoroughly and completely!
And I’ve been humming Mary Poppins songs ever since, with the occasional breaking forth into song.
I will quite simply sum it up this way.
It was………….
Supercalfragilisticexpialidocious!
🙂 🙂 🙂
THUS, Mary Poppins seemed the obvious choice for this week’s book list.
I made a few golden-yellow pom-poms. I’m thinking about a medium sized wreath for spring and summer. Something about this color makes me think a bit about harvest.
I think this is the yarn I’m using. It is very similar, if not exactly. It’s a super bulky, so it doesn’t take a lot for a pom-pom, since I’m wanting smaller sized pom-poms.
{Here’s my pom-pom wreath over in this post.}
I’ve been burning this Ginger-Peach Tea Candle. I mentioned it as one of my ten favorites in yesterday’s post. We dug the necklace surprise out of it last night. 🙂
I love it! We’ve had several sunny and lovely days, but now it is turning cold again.
It IS only February!
I finished Glory Days. So far it and Flash are two of my favorite reads this year.
I am really, really liking The Life Giving Home. I especially relate to the parts written by Sally. She talks about creating a home filled with things she loves and of creating a space and sanctuary for her family. She talks about her love for books and filling her shelves and baskets with favorites.
She talks about making homey pleasures a part of life and thriving. She talks about celebrating life and enjoying a variety of food and just adding interesting detail and embracing the everyday. She talks about lighting candles and collecting things we love that create home for us.
All these things speak to me, because they are very much things I’ve always loved. She talks about cozy and about routines and seasons.
She talks about her quiet time and devotional time and I related to that as well.
We all have our own homes to create and our own “what works for us”. I think it’s important to find that.
I’ve really enjoyed this book so far. I always love it when I find myself nodding and agreeing and saying, “Why, yes, I feel that way too!”
It’s like the C. S. Lewis quote that says, “Friendship is born at that moment when one man says to another, “What? you too?” 🙂
I’m making another heart-shaped dishcloth. I wanted to try one out of variegated yarn. Here’s the start of the heart!!!
Here’s the book I mentioned.
Ginny talked about it in one of her posts and I thought it looked really cool.
I am all about simple. That is where I thrive best! 🙂 If it’s meant for kids, I can probably do it.
{Notice the name of my hand-lettering book on my post from Saturday.}
I took the fingerless mitts projects off my needles this past week.
Not because it was finished. Because I realized I was doing some things wrong and I had several mistakes. I’m planning to try them again, though. And I don’t regret what I did, because I was still learning. Once I get a few rounds going again, I think it will turn out much better.
I started in on this bunny hand puppet with my empty needles. I’ve got a start and I’m enjoying watching it emerge!
If I get somewhere and can get another pair of needles for knitting in the round, I will go ahead and start in on the mitts again. Otherwise, I’ll have to wait until the bunny is finished. That will be ok, too. It will give me the incentive to get it finished!
I really like this cheery green yarn too, with the bits of color. It looks so springy!
What are you working on????

I still love your pompoms! Your dishcloths are lovely as well! I think I need to look into that book by clarksons because it sounds wonderful!
Thank-you for your sweet words.
I have had so much fun with the pom-poms! 🙂
I have really enjoyed The Life Giving Home so far. It’s been a refreshing read for me.

Thank-you! Glad you dropped by.
I love that C. S. Lewis quote, too.
