It’s a Christmas package! What could be inside? I was so excited to wrap this up for my kiddos.
I’ll give you a hint.
Whispering…………….{“It’s a book.”}
Last week I saw this book on a facebook page and was all kinds of happy. I promptly ordered it from CBD. It arrived while my sister and her family were here and I hid it in my closet.

It is Arnold Ytreeide’s new Advent book, Ishtar’s Odyssey!
And my kid’s pick for the week.
{Don’t ask me to pronounce the author’s last name. I’ve seen the pronunciation for it, but I don’t remember how to say it!!}
My sister and her family left to head back across all those miles on Sunday morning. I dug the book from its hiding spot and wrapped it up before R&T came downstairs.
Advent started on Sunday, so it was perfect timing!
I presented them with the package later on in the day, informing them that they would be very excited about what was inside. Tuc thought perhaps it was more for Renae and she would be more excited. I answered him with an emphatic, “Nope. You will love it too.”
I was right.
We have the other three Arnold Ytreeide Advent books and love, love, love them! I don’t remember what year we got and read the first one. It has been SEVERAL years ago! My kiddos were totally captured and enthralled with the story.
They were first introduced to Jotham’s Journey at their Grandma’s house. She read it to them one summer and then we got our own copy and read it again for Advent. It was new to me and the kids were more than happy to re-read it.
I then discovered there were more and they were happy little campers!
Jotham’s Journey is the first one in the series. You wouldn’t have to read them in order, but I think you would get more out of them by reading them in order.
Next is Bartholomew’s Passage.
Then Tabitha’s Travels….
and NOW………..Ishtar’s Odyssey!!!
We are loving it so far. Four days in.
Each book has a chapter for each day of Advent. Each book has a calendar in the back with a list of years and the beginning date of Advent.
This one is for Easter. Amons’ Adventure.
I recommend reading the first three Advent books before this one. You wouldn’t have to, but it makes it more fun. Amon is the son of characters from the first book. Reading the other books first introduces you to the characters.
I just finished The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck. It was really, really good.
If you need books for gifts for people on your list, I highly recommend these!
Get the whole set of Arnold Ytreeide for children in your life and The Christmas Sweater would be a great gift for an adult who loves a good and inspiring story!
The Christmas Sweater would be a good family read-aloud also. I never have enough time for the stack of books that I think would be fun read-alouds!
I did work a little more on my dishcloth since last week. Not a lot, but a bit! And my neglected leaf sits on my needles and patiently waits. I keep having urges to work on it again, so I’m betting I will carve out some time soon. I think I’ve forgotten the new stitches I’d learned. I will have to look them up again! LOL!
Weaving progress…
This book caught my eye at the library a couple of weeks ago. Most of the projects are crochet. I don’t crochet, but I still enjoyed leafing through the pages and looking at the bright colors and pretty projects.
I love this idea for a pillow! Maybe if Renae runs out of projects she can crochet me some circles sometime! 🙂
We’ve been digging out the Christmas decor and boxing up the fall stuff. Or in some cases throwing the fall decor out into the trees. The frozen pumpkins and gourds were collected from the porch and hauled off to reside in the woods and rot away there! I loved having them so much this fall.
I pulled this little stocking out from one of our boxes of Christmas stuff. Isn’t it cute?
I didn’t make it. My sister gave it to me one year and other than that I’m not sure where it came from. But I like it ever so much!
There we go….my books and yarn and projects and words for this week’s Yarn Along!
