My yarn and needles have been quiet during the month of December.
We’ve been busy with get togethers and other activities and Christmas things.
I received this yarn spinner from my Mother when we celebrated Christmas with them the beginning of December. I’m very excited about it. It looks so pretty and it is a great place to keep my current yarn ball.
While we were at my parents’, I went along with my mother to her Bible study. It’s held at my cousin’s house and it was special for it to work out for me to go.
A couple of the women shared and recommended The Greatest Gift as a good book for Advent. {Thank-you, ladies!!!} 🙂 I had not seen this title from Ann Voskamp before. After we got home, I ordered a copy. I was a little late starting it, but I’m reading through it anyway. The readings each day are not long and it is a lovely devotional. And isn’t it beautiful?! I recently won a set of Ann’s new book and Bible study, The Broken Way and look forward to working through it. It is beautiful too, with a bowl of wheat on the cover.
I’ve come very close the last couple of years to purchasing the Advent study She Reads Truth offers. Perhaps next year!
I’m also reading When Jesus Was a Green-Eyed Brunette.
The title is an attention-grabber, huh?!
I like it. Lots of very interesting stories in it and testimonies of people’s experiences. There’s a giveaway going on right now for a copy of this book. Go HERE to enter.
A few pictures that aren’t yarn or books…………
We had snow on Saturday and bitter cold temps.
It warmed up yesterday and everything was drippy.
My kiddos went out and made this pair of snowmen. They look like they are guarding the end of my walk for me!!
They weren’t going to last too long…….the sun kept shining and it was 50 degrees and they kept drip-dripping!
I got out and took a walk. It was lovely!
I grabbed some gingerbread kits last year during the after-Christmas sales. I tucked them away with my Christmas decor and we pulled them out last week.
Tucker has built me a Lego nativity a couple of different years. I don’t think he got one done last year. Last year went by in rather a swirl. My sister was here at Thanksgiving, I had events with my Lilla Rose and then surgery and traveling to Ohio. Looking back, it sounds a little crazy!! {Mentioning Lilla Rose reminds me, there will be a 29 hour Purple Monday sale starting on December 26th for all Lilla-Rose-Fans! 🙂 }
I’ve loved his Lego nativities and I liked how he used the sticks on the roof this year.
After clearing away a few dirty glasses from the background, I took this picture as the orange and green were catching my attention!
KID PICK
Or not kid pick. Maybe more of a I-love-this-book pick! It’s so funny! All the breathing and hugging. I’ve never owned a copy and when my sister-in-law asked me for gift ideas for myself, I told her I’d like to have one. I’m so thrilled!
One more quick pic!
A few months ago I found this rug and loved it. I decided to turn it into a wall hanging. I’ve thought about putting something on the wall at the bottom of our basement stairs and had turned different ideas around in my head, never quite landing on one that completely struck me.
This did. It was a perfect fit and I loved the look and reminder every time I go down the stairs. Now to follow through……………… 🙂 🙂
We are having a good week-before-Christmas and I hope every one of you does too! It can get busy, but I love the Christmas season.

Give a hug to the Lego nativity maker. 😀💞 Oh, and tell him it’s from me. I love the relatives came book, too. Gingerbread houses look fun to do. The yarn holder looks very handy. I may have to put one on my list next year.
I think you would like the yarn holder.
The nativity maker is keeping busy! 🙂 🙂
