How was your weekend? We had a good one, although I ended up pretty tired. I was expecting to feel that way, though, after we were gone last weekend and had appointments and several things going on last week.
We spent most of the weekend with all of Matthew’s family. It was great fun to have all four of our baby nieces together.

I came across this quote that I thought was fitting for the weekend. ~
Work is not always required. There is such a thing as sacred idleness. ~ George McDonald
Ten Things I did over the weekend ~
1. Made jalapeno poppers. I’ve done these a few times recently and we’ve really liked them. I’ve done them in the oven and on the grill. I like them best on the grill!
UPDATED:
Here’s the simple recipe we think is yummy!
Ingredients
- Jalapeno Peppers
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 2 cups shredded cheese
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. chili powder
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 pound of bacon
Instructions
Slice jalapenos in half and seed and vein.
Mix cream cheese and shredded cheese and seasonings together. {Use any kind of shredded cheese. I've used cojack and a Mexican blend. I've seen recipes that called for cheddar and mozzarella.}
Spoon cheese filling into peppers.
Cut bacon slice in halves or thirds, depending on size of peppers.
Wrap bacon around peppers.
Grill or bake.
If baking, line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Bake at 375 for 20 - 30 minutes.
We have a Traeger grill and I grilled our poppers on high for about 30 minutes to get the bacon as crispy as I wanted.
https://adelightfulglow.com/ten-things-labor-day-weekend/2. We went to the zoo. Zookeeper holding a Red-tail Boa. Not for the squeamish! I took a picture, but I didn’t get too close or even consider touching that snake. {Shudder.} My kids did and my three-year-old niece did. {Shudder again.} {Not fond of snakes.}
The leaves on this tree at the zoo were so lacy and beautiful!
The kangaroos were nice and soft to pet. One mama had her baby all tucked into her pouch. What a design! It really doesn’t look that comfortable for mama or baby, but it certainly works!
3. I left my bed unmade all day on Monday. {Such a rebel.} Haha! I generally make my bed, so now and then it feels good to just ignore that detail. I certainly don’t care if people never make their beds; I just personally like making mine up for the most part. 🙂
4. The kiddos were doing chores for our neighbors over the weekend, so I washed the eggs they brought home.
5. I read and rested and napped.
6. We ate a yummy lunch at Hog Wild with Matthew’s family.
7. We made Nacho Bar and Heath bar cake and served everyone lunch.
8. I cleaned and pulled out some autumn decor. It felt good to freshen things up.
9. I watched little girls and laughed at little girls and played with little girls.
10. I relived memories of taking my littles to the zoo.
We had windows open some over the weekend, but then the heat returned along with wind. It hasn’t been too windy for a while and I am glad. Every time it gets windy, it makes me thankful for when it isn’t!
Happy Tuesday!

Sounds like a lovely weekend! I spent a good portion of mine playing with three little granddaughters. Fun times!
Awww! You had fun with girlies, too! 🙂
Sounds like a fun weekend! Dan worked on the bus all weekend so I puttered around the house, ran errands (“need nails”, “that’s the wrong type of nail”, “need more nails”), had my parents & step-brother over for Dan’s birthday, not the most relaxing weekend ever but that’s perfectly okay!
Puttering happens to be one of my favorite things!
Our weekend was rather that same description…not the most relaxing, but it was fun!
And I love that you have been able to celebrate Dan’s birthday more than once!
I haven’t been to the zoo in so long, and it was always a fun with my boys.
I agree! The zoo is a great daytrip!
Okay, those jalapeno poppers look amazing! Recipe? Also, kudos for an unmade bed – I did that on Sunday and Monday! And, it felt rebelliously good! 🙂
Woo-hoo on the unmade beds!! 🙂 🙂 {Should we start a club?}
I added the jalapeno recipe to my post, so you can print it out!
Happy weekend!
