One of my friends’ daughters posted a picture of her beautiful lemon wreath on Instagram. I loved its bright cheerfulness.
Soon after, I was moving the flowerpots around on my porch and simultaneously watering them and moving them some more. I’ve rearranged the porch a few times this summer. In part, because of wind that blew over a flowerpot and in part because I like to try this here and then there and in part because I’ve thought of something else to add or try.
Rearranging aside, I glanced at my front door and I realized that a lemony-type wreath with that yellow would be a bright summer addition to my porch. I’d managed to craft an Easter wreath and I’d thoroughly enjoyed doing it. Perhaps a summer wreath too?
I always have brainstorms it seems when it’s already a busy season. Hence, this idea with harvest quickly approaching.
Still, I was struck with the idea and when I had a few moments did some online looking and ordered a few things to try my hand at a wreath.
My order arrived during harvest and I quick-opened the box, checked out my supplies, and tucked it all into the guest room closet for later.
One evening after the harvest days had ended and we’d caught a bit of a breather, I pulled out the box and pulled out a few other bits and pieces and started to try a few ideas. My wreath came out completely different than any of the ideas I’d had or looked at on Pinterest before I started. I did use three lemons, but I’d really pictured more than that.
It was great, though! I really liked what I ended up with. That’s part of creativity. At least for me. Just starting in and making something and loving it. Much of my stuff is just a bit funky, but I’ve decided that must just be a bit of my style. I’ve never felt like I had a style that fell into a certain category or name. I like what I like. Eclectic might be a good name, because it seems I find myself liking a bit of this look and a bit of that and loving this idea from over here.
I also realized that perhaps I am more crafty than I think I am. I’m pretty sure I could probably love having a room full of craft-type stuff and just pullling out and picking and choosing and seeing what emerges.
As always, I throw out information that really has not that much to do with the given subject. However, once again, it’s how I roll and here is my lemony-yellow, summery wreath! I’m loving it on my door and the splash of color it adds to my porch.
Now to get my John Deere pedal tractor transported to my porch. Matthew has been going to get it for me and I keep forgetting to ask him when we have time.
