Soooooooooo, summer seems to have arrived!
Two reasons I think this.
It’s 98 degrees.
I’ve been out of the house for some reason or another, every day so far this week.
Spring has successfully escaped us again! I’m hoping we’ll get a few more visits with Spring though. Our friendly weather forecast website says the next few days should have highs of 80’s with Friday even topping out at just 76 degrees. I like hearing about those 70 temps! I relate so well to them.
Last week found me pulling taco soup out of the freezer and turning my furnace on. On May the first, no less!
This week has me reaching for the strawberry pie recipe and thinking about swimming! {Our pool quite depleted itself last summer, so we will have to venture to the waterpark or city pool or decide to go for another pool to set up here!}
The house just has a summertime feel to it and makes me think about summertime stuff!
Monday was quite lovely. It leaned much more towards springtime. It was NOT windy and just gorgeous. I loved, loved, loved having windows open and I broke out the mower finally. I managed to mow our weeds and weeds and dandelion heads turned-to-seed and even some grass! {insert giggle because I think I’m funny.} Someday we hope to have some city grass around our house. When Renae was small she started calling perfectly manicured, green, lush, beautiful lawns by the name of “city grass”. Because most of these yards were located in the city or towns! Makes sense.
It will be fun sometime to have nice grass around our house, but I don’t totally mind the Kansas grass look in some areas. It’s just Kansas. Without a fair amount of effort, we just don’t have the same kind of yards as Ohio does. I will say it is more fun to play croquet in really nice grass than it is in our sandy, grassy back yard. But hey!
I can tell it is supposed to be spring, because it’s that funny time of year when the laundry has fuzzy socks and sweatshirts all mixed in with short-sleeved shirts and summertime clothes.
Nicer weather means busier too. Well, maybe not really busier, just different-kind-of-stuff busier. I find myself getting out more and running farm errands and playing chauffer-for-my-farmer-man. There’s outside stuff and lots of watering and the days slide by.
I’m not a tried and true gardener of the vegetable variety or the flower variety, but I like having a little of both. I love watching plants pop up in the springtime. We’ve planted a few peas and potatoes, but we’re questioning whether we do much more with as dry as it is. I’m sure we’ll end up planting some sweet corn, ’cause I know how glad I’ll be later on. Sweet corn is an all-time favorite in our family.
If you enjoy visiting us at A Delightful Glow, don’t get too concerned if it gets a little quiet around here. I never know if summer will give me more opportunity to spend some time posting away or if I’ll take a break! We’ll see how the mood strikes and how the hours go by! For Lilla Rose fans, I’m sure I’ll try to post about any sales and the monthly clips! I love checking out each month’s clip! If you’re not a Lilla Rose fan or just aren’t that in to hair accessories, you can just skip on to the next post. 🙂
This picture is making me laugh every time I look at it! I love it! Like so much!!!
{My son isn’t all that impressed with it. He’ll understand someday. My daughter thinks she looks like a pirate taking little bro captive!! haha!! She does look like she could have a pretty good “arrrgh” going on!}
I just LOVE IT SO MUCH. {In case you missed it the first time.}
I came across it a while back and wanted to do something with it. I recently had it printed and now it’s leaning against my wall, patiently waiting until we have time to hang it. I used to pound nails in the walls at my old house with abandon. Now, I care a little bit more about my walls. And I am not a good “hanger-of-things-on-walls”. I am good at showing my man where I want things hung and letting him get it straight and all that jazz.
This pretty sign is hanging out on my refrigerator. It was taped to our door on Easter Sunday. I was going to include it in a Memoir Monday post and forgot. We texted a couple of families to see if they left it for us, but guessed wrong both times. We guessed again and got it right! It was a cheery touch and a wonderful reminder!

Love that picture of your kids! Our weather is warming up but definitely has not hit 98 yet – thank goodness. I hope you get some more spring!
That pic of your kids is so great! You should put it in your sidebar or make it your button or something!
