Tis the season!
Of cold weather and hot drinks.
Here on our farm we like the occasional coffee, hot chocolate with a touch of coffee, and sometimes hot tea.
I also like to make wassail during the Christmas season.
It’s so pretty and there’s something cozy and homey and Christmasey about it simmering on the stove.
{I wonder if I could do some kind of search that would show me how many times I’ve used the word cozy on my blog.} {I love words and old English, but I don’t have all that big of a vocabulary.} {BUT, I also like simplicity and ease of understanding when reading or listening.} {the two don’t necessarily always go together.}
Here is a very simple wassail recipe ~
Ingredients
- 1 frozen cranberry juice concentrate {12 oz}
- 1 frozen apple juice concentrate {12 oz}
- 9 cups water {or 6 juice cans of water}
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 8 whole cloves
- 1/4 cup sugar, optional
Instructions
Mix juices and water in large saucepan. Add cinnamon sticks and cloves.
If adding sugar, stir to dissolve.
Simmer 1 hour or longer.
Enjoy the lovely scent!
Serve in pretty glass cups or your favorite teacups or mugs!
Wrap hands around mug to warm them! Sip and savor!
Notes
Store leftover wassail in fridge and reheat.
I also freeze some of it sometimes and get it out at a later date.

I love hot drinks. They are so comforting and make me happy. A friend just gave me some Candy Cane Green Tea from Trader Joes and I love it. I also love my HOT white coffee in the mornings too 🙂
I agree. I think hot drinks feel so homey. I just like fun beverages. Hot ones in cold weather and cold ones in hot weather! 🙂
This looks like a wonderful hot drink for a family-oriented New Year’s Eve.
It’s super easy and so cozy to have it simmering!
