Here’s what I did over the weekend, among other things!
Some crafting!

I receiveย a few magazine subscriptions and I enjoy leafing through them.
When I find a page with a craft or a recipe or some other manner of inspiration that I want to keep or make or remember, I do the most logical thing.
I rip the page out of the magazine.
Because, you know, technology hasn’t advanced yet to pinning from a paper publication. And that’s quite all right. I like all-my-things-digital, but I sure still like hard copies.
I’d ripped out a page showcasing creating nests from shredded paper. They looked fun to try for spring and Easter.
AND…I had all these cool, crinkly paper shreds that I’d received as packing in a couple of orders and it was so pretty and fun that I saved it to either reuse in a gift package or DO SOMETHING OF SOME KIND SOMEDAY!!!
Here’s what I did to make my cool, crinkly nests.
I gathered up some balloons, jars, my pretty, pink paper crinkles, a small foam brush, a bowl, spoon and modge podge and some water.
Blow up balloon and place in jar.
You could put balloon either way. Flipping it over here, would give you a rounder shaped nest.
Mix up approximately equal parts modge podge and water in a small bowl. I grabbed a glass one and later decided that, “Duh!” I should have just used a paper bowl for easy cleanup.
I decided what I liked doing the best was sticking the amount of paper shreds I wanted for one nest into my bowl of modge podge and mixing it up until the shreds were all fairly damp.
That’s not exactly what the directions said, but it worked best for me.
SO.
Stick shreds into bowl.
THEN, grab your foam brush and dip directly into modge podge jar and apply a coat all over your balloon in the approximate area and size you want to cover for your nest.
Now you’re ready to get all your damp shreds out of your bowl and shape them onto the balloon. If you decide you need more, just dip and add.
That’s pretty much it. Let it set and dry overnight.
If you’re doing more than one, move on to the next balloon, jar and shreds!
When they’ve dried, pop the balloons and remove them and throw them away.
You have paper nests!!
How fun is that??!!
NEXT FUN PART!
Fill your nests.
I made a few glass glittered eggs last year.
I also made a few more of them over the weekend. {Blog post coming for them, too!}
AND so, that’s what I filled my paper nests with!
I really like them!
Fun experience!
Spring and Easter are high on my favorites list!
A very cute projects! Thanks for sharing at the April Country Fair Blog Party! Always nice to have repeat bloggers.
