We have a smattering of snow covering the ground this morning. Just enough to frost everything white and add a glistening prettiness across the landscape. It’s perfectly snuggly! Book, blanket, and cappuccino, please!!!

I have a Baker’s book review for us!
Marriage that Works by Chip Ingram
“A marriage that works,” says Ingram, is more wonderful than you thought possible and harder than you imagined-but it’s worth the work.”
Absolutely! I agree completely.
This book is encouraging and fights for commitment to and in marriage. It cheers for thriving marriages, not merely surviving. It points us to Jesus and to each other. Chip Ingram shares from his life experiences and lessons learned along the way. He shares intentional steps for men and women alike in cultivating a life together. Marriage encapsulates so many things and a variety of areas. This book does a good job of pulling all the threads together and weaving a life of beauty through our failures, frustrations, fighting for our marriage, and flourishing in it all.
A couple of quotes from Marriage that Works ~
“A good leader wants his wife to bring her strengths, thoughts, gifts, and even her best arguments to the table.”
“God longs to hear a wife and mother pray for her husband and children. He responds in very powerful ways.”
I truly enjoy reading a good book about marriage every so often. It encourages me and gives me a reboot to go deeper in my commitment and care of my man and my marriage. {That sounds lofty. It’s true. YET. I also consistently make mistakes, trip up, become irritated, get mired in my selfish desires, and need to reboot all over again. Just sayin’. No perfection here. Instead, a desire to keep at it and rejoice on the days I do get it right!!!}

We recently watched “Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage” by Mark Gungor. Friends of ours hosted a gathering and shared this series. We had fantastic food, lots of laughs, and a serious reflection to hold our marriage and commitment closely. You can find Mark Gungor on YouTube if you’d like to simultaneously laugh and refresh your heart for marriage.
Do you have a book about marriage you especially like? I’d love to hear!
