I showed you my basket of pens and markers and pencils and all manner of writing utensils over here in this post. I still really like having it and use it practically everyday.
I never used to do much highlighting in books. I did highlight in my schoolbooks some. {In those long-ago days. Peer through the haze and you might be able to catch a glimpse back that far.}
Now, I highlight a lot. Quotes I want to remember. Things that especially stand out at that time. Things I may want to go back and find.
I noticed the other day that I was choosing certain pens/pencils/markers/highlighters for certain books. {This is shaping up to be THE. MOST. enlightening post you’ve ever read.}
I wanted to underline in my Savor book and I went for a blueish/purplish colored pencil. It sorta matches the book. And it wasn’t too heavy for the texture of the pages.
It started a little bit with this study book. I decided to use my red marker for a study about love. I chose the aqua one too, because I like aqua and red together. They were my go-to markers for underlining and lettering as I worked through the book. It was fun to pick up my book and markers and study a lesson.
Then, a friend gifted me with this fabulous set of pens for my birthday. I’ve thoroughly loved them. I found myself reaching for them as I went to jot down my thankful things of the day. It struck me that they matched the journal and that was part of the reason I was reaching for them. How fun is that?!
This study book has thick, slick pages. Not exactly like a magazine, but not just your average paper. They’re neat. I like them. For it, my Prisma markers work wonderfully. They don’t bleed through like they would on a paper page. I find myself using the red, orange, and blue a lot. But look at the cover of the book. The pillows have orange, red and blue. I think I subconsciously match.

This is my prayer journal book right now. When I write in it, I mostly just like to use a black pen. I am picky about just what black pen, though. Pens are not created equal. Far from it. Some are much more fun to write with. These are two I’ve been using recently.
There you have it. My highlighting habits! Now, I’ll be noticing what I grab for according to what book or study or such I’m doing. Funny!

I have a huge addiction to pens and paper and notebooks and journals! One I have is where I write down quotes from books that I liked – or something that I loved that the author put on the beginning fly pages and so on….

Me too! I don’t have a journal specifically for quotes, but I write them in my prayer journal. I’ve also put together some blog posts here of favorite quotes.
