We started our week with a rainy Monday! We need some rain, so we were glad to welcome any that wanted to come our way. We got a half inch! Better than nothing. My son had been asking for butterhorns, so a gray, chilly day was a perfect time to bake. We made rolls and pumpkin pie. We lit candles and enjoyed being inside. I won a giveaway last week for a Diamond Candle! Hooray! It’s always fun to have a new candle. I chose the Orange Vanilla. It will be fun to try. And isn’t it interesting all the unique ideas people have? Each Diamond Candle has a ring in the wax, so you get to find it once your candle burns down far enough. I’m quite sure I would’ve never come up with this idea for a product!
Since it was wet out and we had some slow down time, we went to visit one of our fave baby nieces! She’s growing up so much!
Hello darling girlie in her pink princess wagon! Since cooler temps and wet weather had drifted in we made cheddar chowder and had a family fun night. It’s always nice to just relax a little. I edited pictures and went to a chiropractor appointment. We did schoolwork and blog work. We read Trixie Belden and caught a glimpse of some deer who came to graze on the baby wheat in the pasture area behind our house. We worked on seed wheat and visited a neighbor.
Home ec! Pumpkin baking and scooping and putting in the freezer! It was kind of a punkiny time. 🙂
Hello to cozying down! I’m not fond of COLD weather, but snuggling down is a fun, comfy thing!
Hello to some more wheat drilling! We delivered tacos to the field for lunch and ran errands in town. We checked out audiobooks from the library and backed up pictures and videos. We talked about the upcoming Denver Bronco/Indianapolis Colts game. We loved us some awesome fall weather!
And then, we woke up Friday morning to more wet weather and then SNOW! We had snowflakes coming down for quite a while, though none of it stuck around at all. We had unwanted excitement in our immediate rural neighborhood late Friday morning. Our neighbor’s detached garage caught fire! Matthew saw smoke at their house and went over to check it out. He got there about the time our neighbor lady realized something was happening. They got the fire department called and Matthew moved some things that were hanging on the outside of the garage or sitting close by. The electric was out, so the well and water were unavailable also. So not even a garden hose to try to dampen it down until the fire trucks came. Thankfully, their house was fine, but the garage was a loss. Our neighbor had a greenhouse attached and it went too. Our neighbor was rather sad about her plants, many that she had just moved inside for the winter!
Hello to a fun hairstyle on Paisley! Hello to setting up a Lego village in the basement again.
Girls with braces. My girl and I giggled together because poor Paisley’s braces fell off her teeth. Different orthodontist needed?
Hello chilly day and working on lunch!
Working on shoeboxes! It’s that time of year too. We are glad to be able to pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child! We’ve done it ever since Renae was fairly young and she’s always loved it and Tucker likes it too. I try to pick things up throughout the year {when I remember} and we needed to sort through and see what we have and what else we should get to fill them up.
Following our Friday snow, we had a gorgeous fall Saturday! We worked on clean-up inside and out and I ran over to a neighbor’s to get some broken Tupperware pieces replaced at a come and go party. Another week…….
Thanks for delighting in the sweet and simple things of everyday, and for sharing a glimpse of that with us…
I love the idea of memoir Monday! It was lovely to read through your week and see the pictures. The little things make our weeks the most special! Thanks for sharing.
I’ve totally enjoyed recording our daily happenings and remembering each week. It’s made me appreciate the everyday things and the simple routine of our life! Just taking the time to stop and think about them.
Love your Monday posts! Your niece is so sweet! I have never cooked a fresh pumpkin…my mom always said they were too stringy. I usually buy canned pumpkin and just put fresh ones out to decorate with…I should try a fresh one sometime!
We think our niece is pretty sweet too!
Doing a pumpkin is easy. I blend it up after it’s baked. A food processor would work really well too. The pumpkin would be stringy without processing it someway.
I love all the beautiful pumpkin decor in the fall.
