Whirlwind week.
Our house phone quit. We had a Farm Bureau meeting to attend, so afterward we trekked to Wal-Mart for a new phone. My basement oven panel control seems to be messed up too. The timer will work, but I have to set it in a different way. The broil and bake buttons do not work at all and the oven won’t turn on. Not an earth-shattering event, but it is handy to have it work right. The phone was crazy too. It wouldn’t ring and we couldn’t call out on it, but when I called our house with my cell phone and picked up the phone receiver, it worked. No way to know if someone was calling without ringers, though! And I really don’t need to call my own house phone when I’m at home. Our indoor/outdoor thermometer seems to be malfunctioning also. Always, always something. Just life. Just daily details.
Our kiddos are spending the week with my parents. I’m so glad they can. They’ve done this a few other times and it always is memory-making special for all of them. A few of my mama musings are over in this post from one other time when they went… I had two people ask me if it was going to be quiet around our house this week. I honestly hadn’t even had time to think about it yet. They {and my brother} left on an early morning flight on Saturday. We dropped them off at the airport and then went to Wal-Mart. It was one of the few places open at 5:00 a.m. I will tell you that city traffic and shopping lines are both awesomely nill at this early hour. We then tried out Chick-Fil-A for breakfast. I’ve wanted to try their breakfast and we’ve just never had the opportunity. SO, this was our chance! Chicken biscuit for breakfast = mmmm!!! We did some other things in the city and then I got a text from one of my best friends and her new baby boy had arrived!! Praise God. We finished our errands and headed home via the hospital. We spent time snuggling this darlingest of darlings and then continued back to our farmhouse. I fed the clowder and Cooper, since Miss R had jetted away, watered pots, finished a cake and off we went again to Matthew’s parents to see all our baby nieces and spend the evening with all of M’s family.
Divorce is so ordinary we sometimes forget the extraordinary pain it causes.
The above blog post title by Jon Acuff definitely caught my eye in my inbox. I’ve thought for a long time now about all the people divorce touches and hurts. It is a wide circle of people. It doesn’t just affect the couple choosing the divorce. It’s like when you throw a stone in a placid lake and watch the ripples, ever widening as they move away from the center. The comments left on Jon’s fb post about it are heart-breaking. Link to his fb post in his blog post. Click on the title above to go read the blog post.
Today, I’m scheduled for an MRI on my back. Say some prayers for me, please. And, THANK-YOU!!! I always am so grateful to know I am prayed for.
