In one of my {Hello Monday} posts, I posted a photo of one of my kitchen rugs. I knew I wanted two rugs for my kitchen. One to put in front of the refrigerator and one to go in front of the sink. I really hadn’t shopped or given a lot of thought to what kind or color or texture of rugs I wanted. When we were in Ohio in August, my sister showed me the rug she was working on to go in the entryway at my Mother’s house. It was round and made out of braided strips of material and I really liked it. I asked {or told} her to make me some! She’s always very obliging to sew for me, so when I got home I checked and measured and sent her the size I wanted.
My rugs are {obviously} rectangle and if I remember correctly 2 ft by 3 ft. I really like the texture of them and the neutral color. Our main floor has a good bit of gray and these rugs are a grayish, too. My sister still needs to finish one of them. She keeps quite busy stitching this and stitching that and she knows I don’t mind waiting.
I took photos of my rug in front of the fridge and in front of the sink. I really like the look both places.
You can shop my sister’s Etsy shop here. She takes custom orders, so if you are in need of a great rug or two, give her a shout! Click through here, for her blog.
A little closer look at the detail. I think they are a fun idea! I really don’t know exactly how they are put together. I know she serges strips and braids them and puts it all together. These needed the ends finished in comparison to the round one of my Mother’s. It was all sewed together and made a beautiful circle for her entryway.
I’m always happy when I find something that really strikes me. Especially when it happens as easily as finding the rugs did. At least on my end. I didn’t have to make them. tee-hee!
Have you had an exciting find recently?

I really like the look of the round rug in my entryway. And it has taken very little care. So blessed to have talented daughters.
I like the round really well too and I’m loving my rug in my kitchen!
She needs to do a tutorial for us!
I know she could! 🙂 In between her projects!!
It looks great in your kitchen! I need to teach my girls to make these so we could crank them out a bit faster! I will do my best to have your second one done before Christmas this year!!! Honestly that isn’t funny at all – I’m probably booked till then the way the stuff just keeps coming in!
