The screen door stands open and the birdsong chatter wafts cheerily inside my walls. It’s a glorious morning. A deer bounds through our thirsty-yet-green field of wheat. The sun edges, edges, then bounds above the horizon in a joyous new-day way.
I creak open the screen door and tiptoe across my porch and out to the edge of the struggling wheat. It’s been beckoning me as I watch the world wake up from my window and cozy armchair. I snap a few pictures and drink in the fresh beauty of TODAY.
My daughter celebrates her high school graduation this weekend. I’m equal parts excited for her and equal parts wondering where in the world the time went! How did we go from a bubbly, giggly five-year-old old to a lovely, laughing eighteen-year-old in such a short span of time? Short and long all rolled together. It makes no sense to me how time works. It’s been a fun week. A busy week. A week filled with memories and preparation.
Life is a constant process and tomorrow waits on no one. Marking milestones and making memories matters. We plan, we prepare, and then we pause, and we take a few hours to celebrate! Celebrations and milestones are gifts! Schooling is a gift. Beauty in the everyday is a gift. Friends and family and helping hands are a gift. Fields of growing wheat are a gift. Turning-adult daughters are a gift.
Me? I’m grateful.

Congratulations to your girl. Oh my! Do they ever grow up to fast dear friend. At a Mother’s day lunch yesterday I just sat there in a chair and looked at my three grown daughter’s and thought the same thing, “Where has the time gone?”. Now my youngest daughter is expecting her 2nd child, our 6th grandbaby and I am still sitting there looking at the grands and thinking “Where has the time gone? A circle of life sweet friend. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Life and time are impossible to completely understand or capture! It goes swiftly, yet I wouldn’t want to miss the moments of today by staying in the memories of yesterday.
Hooray for all the fun of grandbabies and little people! So much fun!
Thank-you for your sweet words! Looking forward to the teacup and mug reveal posts this week! I need to get mine ready! 🙂
