We had a very good Thanksgiving. My sister & co. were here visiting for the week. We fixed Thanksgiving dinner and had a lovely, tucked-in day eating good food and pie and giving thanks for so many good things in our lives! Yep, there are trials and hard spots and not-so-good things, YET, still so much to give thanks for!!
My brother lives close by and he was here too, so we were only missing my parents! They were having a couple of my mother’s sisters and husbands to share Thanksgiving dinner with them. They had a good day and it was nice to know they spent the day with special people.
I have so thoroughly enjoyed our fall and fall weather. It just lasted a really long time. I enjoyed the beauty of pumpkins and gourds and leaves and pears and apples and acorns and milo and corn tucked into my porch and in tablescapes on my kitchen table.
BUT, winter has arrived! And when it did, it decided to announce itself!
It started on Thanksgiving Day. Rain mixed with ice and slush. It kept it up off and on and early Friday morning our electric went out. I was so glad the electric stayed on for Thanksgiving Day!!
We were out of electric for about 12 hours. My farmer man and my brother-in-law brought a generator and a John Deere tractor over from the farm and hooked it up, giving us limited power usage. Pretty handy!
The ice and white outside definitely has me thinking Christmas, now that Thanksgiving has come and gone. I generally get my Christmas decor out right after Thanksgiving. Time to tuck away the leaves and acorns! I want to work on it this week.
AND to start out the week, it’s a bit Christmasey here at A Delightful Glow as well!

My Grandma arriving on Christmas Eve to spend the night. She always made every holiday beautiful and memorable.
That is such a special memory!
My favorite Christmas memory is when my son was 3 months old and we went to visit family.
Aww, how fun! I love that cuddly 3 month-old age. My friend has a baby very close to that right now. They’re so fun with their smiles and baby babbles.
My favorite Christmas memory is waking up very early on Christmas morning to a living room full of presents!
I can just picture it!
I always forget that we live so close. Yes, winter certainly did arrive with a bang this year! It is so cold out there! I am glad you had a nice Thanksgiving. 🙂
Thank you for being a part of the Christmas Blessing Giveaway!
It is cold! I’ve been so thankful for a warm home and getting to stay in the last couple of days!
Very fun to be part of this giveaway!
My favorite Christmas memory is always going to my Grandma & Grandpa’s house for Christmas. We still go to their house and my grandparents are 85 and 79 and are still going strong!!
Very special! Have a blessed Christmas and enjoy more memories made with your grandparents.
Anytime memory that includes my Mom. She’s been gone for 6 years on December 27 and we haven’t had a Christmas together since that day.
Hugs to you as you miss your Mother. Memories are so precious.
Favorite Christmas Memory? I’d have to say going out to my great grandparents who never celebrated Christmas (no tree, no presents, no decorations) and being with the family (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc). We’d have an amazing meal always!
Special memories! Special meals are definitely memory makers. Even the smell of certain foods make me think of certain occasions.
Going to my grandparents house when I was growing up
I always loved going to my Grandma’s house at Christmastime!
When I was a kid (ages ago) my mom and I used to stay over at my aunt’s house. My cousins and I would have a sleepover at Christmas. We had so much fun playing, talking and just hanging out.
Oh, how fun!! I was always so excited to be with my cousins at Christmastime. I had two girls my age and another two who were a couple years younger. Plus, two boy cousins my age.
